2023! —Jan. 1, 2023

Happy new year, all!

Nothing terribly exciting jumps out at me from The Brother's War for this deck (which is fine, because it was a treasure trove for other decks I have). Next update and primer rewrite coming after Phyrexia : All Will Be One!

Hope 2023 brings us some great new cards and much needed reprints! (and less crossover stuff, but I doubt that'll happen lol)

What are your thoughts on The Ozolith, in combination with cards like Carrion Feeder and Juri, Master of the Revue? If Sengir would die, his counters would be stored on The Ozolith. Carrion Feeder is a free sac outlet, that gives himself counters, and Juri gains counter from sacrificing other cards. They both could boost counters a lot.

Also, Jeska, Thrice Reborn in the 99 would be a house for triple Sengir damage :-) And I believe that any card that gives him infect would probably one-shot the table, when Kediss is on the battlefield. But maybe that's a bit mean.

Anyway, I enjoyed reading your primer! Trying to make a comparable Sengir/Kediss deck myself, and was looking for some inspiration/help. And definitely found it here! Thank you.

Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad I could be of some help/inspiration in your deck building process! The Baron is definitely a bit underrated in my opinion even though he just "dies to removal".

All four of those cards would be perfect fits for this deck but I'm at the point now where I don't have any idea on what to cut. :(

That's always the hardest part: cutting cards :)

How's your experience been, playing Sengir? I'm really leaning into putting in a lot of protection cards (preferably regenerating cards, Dark Privilege what a gem!), because the strategy is pretty straight forward, and having a lot of removal in your commander deck is a thing now :) But, it comes at the cost of cutting cards and losing consistency.

dlombart - Sadly, I haven't had as much time recently to play as much as I'd like, so the deck has only seen a game or two but it has seen LOTS of solitaire/goldfishing/playtesting. The deck ran extremely well (even in a loss) in the last game it actually saw which is detailed in the Games Played tab in the description. It should be mentioned, however, that my "meta" just consists of the decks I have on here that my brothers and I pit against each other. I think my decks are relatively light on removal when compared most other commander decks these days, so protection for Sengir is probably priority number one when building your own deck. Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots are the most obvious choices. Blessing of Leeches, Consecrated by Blood, Skeletal Grimace, Soul Channeling and Molting Snakeskin are some more auras similar to Dark Privilege that might be worth checking out.
