Introduction

Golgari funky commander who's a huge mana sink? Here we are exploring either Slimefoot, the Stovaway or Ishkanah, Grafwidow

Combo

These are the ways to generate infinite mana, with which you cast the commander, spam saprolings and sacrifice them at will.

• Argothian Elder/Ley Weaver + Maze of Ith, the Elder must attack, so play him the turn before the maze. This mana is generated in the attack phase so you must dump it at istant speed. Either by casting the commander before or with Sprout Swarm
• Necrotic Oooze piles with Thornling for haste and either Grim Poppet / Channeler Initiate + Devoted Druid or Palladium Myr+Pili-Pala. Currently the list runs only one of the two configurations but it could be a good idea to run both. Survival of the Fittest is just a bomb for Necrotic piles because it basically puts everything you need in the graveyard.

For resiliency the list still runs an "orthogonal" combo, which doesn't require creatures and doesn't require graveyard so that is won't be disrupted by the same tools of the main ones:

• Leyline of the Void + Helm of Obedience, slow but the Helm is quite fun to play also without the Leyline and the decklist has a bit of recursion to do it more than once.

Discarded Combos Show

• Earthcraft + Squirrel Nest, create infinite squirrels, eventually sacrifice them with the outlets or attack. This has been discarded because it only relies on black tutors, we cannot leverage green creature tutors for it.
• Basalt Monolith with Rings of Brighthearth generates colorless Mana, which is ok to activate the Commander ability. Basalt Monolith can ramp but rings had very limited other uses in the current list so it felt like a dead draw. As for the squirrel combo, this one can only be tutored with black tutors and is therefore difficult to assemble.

What if we are close to a breakthrough? Infinite mana sink without the need to roll on the sacrifice engine: Ishkanah, Grafwidow

The Squirrel Nest + Earthcraft and the Basalt Monolith + Rings combos are removed in favor of Necrotic Ooze piles. The reason is that the Ooze is a creature based combo and therefore enjoys all the tutors in green and black. It can also generate infinite mana, so it makes sense with a mana-sink Commander.
