Rise & Shine: Turn 1 Iona

Legacy Reanimator WUB (Esper)

Forkbeard

A kinder, gentler reanimate deck than you're used to. Nothing to see here, nothing to worry about guys.

The general goal of this deck is to get a ridiculous first turn threat into play. My go-to douchebag creature of choice is Iona, Shield of Emeria and there's a number of ways for this to happen:

Exhibit A: Swamp + Dark Ritual + Entomb (fetch Iona & pitch her into the graveyard) + Animate Dead / Exhume / Reanimate . Iona says hi.
Exhibit B: Swamp + Lotus Petal . Tap Swamp to cast Entomb , sac Lotus Petal to cast Reanimate . Iona says hi.
Exhibit C: Swamp + Lotus Petal . Tap Swamp to cast Putrid Imp , Imp allows you to discard Iona from hand to graveyard, sac Lotus Petal to cast Reanimate . Iona says hi.

Iona says hi

Anyway, you get the idea. If for some reason my first turn Iona plan falls through, I've got some other juicy creatures in here for backup that I can reliably slap down on turn 2 (first turn Swamp + Dark Ritual + Buried Alive , second turn Swamp + Animate Dead / Exhume / Reanimate ...That sort of thing).

Effective reanimate shenanigans. Your friends will love it. Rise & shine!
