Sideboard

Maybeboard

A control-burn deck built around Manabarbs. The deck focuses around amplifying damage, as well as forcing opponents to cast spells to avoid big beaters. This deck will probably work best for multiplayer, however, I'm sure it will draw a lot of focus to it.

How it should work:

Personal Sanctuary will protect you from taking damage on your turn from Manabarbs; already an awesome advantage. Once you get a Ghostly Prison or Sphere of Safety on the field, opponents will cry as they have to take lots of damage to attack you. Boros Charm is great as a burn source and, if need be, a way to protect the much needed enchantments on the field. (I would have included Citadel of Pain or Power Surge for even more hurt, but I want to try and keep it modern.)

When burn isn't enough to kill all your opponents, adding in the werewolves and Gisela, Blade of Goldnight add even more damage. Opponents are forced to play spells on their turns, or they're going to have scary werewolves in their face when it comes back around.

Anyway, this is definitely a prototype still. I'm wanting to construct a Manabarbs deck, and this is just the first attempt. Comments, Suggestions, Concerns are all welcome!

Updates Add

Things didn't go so well.. was able to win a couple games, but wasn't able to do the job against against the higher tier decks. As some people mentioned, things are a bit too slow. But I'm glad I was finally able to test things out, because now I have a better feel for what changes should be done to make the deck more competitive. Unfortunately, the deck probably has to break the budget hub in order to do so.

Changes I would like to make:

As someone earlier commented, Blood Moon is a must for this deck; I would even run it mainboard if I had them.

I would like to change the 2-2 split, to a 4-1 split of Ghostly Prison and Sphere of Safety (as someone also previously pointed out). Take out Gisela and add her to the sideboard, just in case we encounter a grindy matchup. I would like to run x4 Lightning Bolts mainboard for the extra burn and creature removal.

The Eidolon of Great Revel and Mondronen Shaman  Flip did some good burn damage. So I'll probably just swap all the werewolves to the Mondronen Shaman  Flip and replace the Nyx-Fleece Ram with more Eidolons.

Side board changes: Definitely keep in Rest in Peace and add in some Suppression Fields.

It was nice seeing such a wide variety of decks at our 12 person event, and I'm sad we couldn't test out against some more decks. Overall, still a really fun experience :)
