Reki, the History of Kamigawa High Power

Commander / EDH* Mono-Green

MerethValera

Welcome to the wonderful world of Reki, the History of Kamigawa. This deck is my pet deck I built 6 years ago and have been improving, tuning, and making the monster that it is now. This deck is high power, sometimes able to win the game as early as turn 4 with a fast enough hand, competing with even honest to god CEDH decks on occasion. There's so much I could write about every single little interaction in the deck and how it all fits together, but every day I discover new ways for the deck to piece together it's a moot point.

Reki as a deck is essentially mono green storm. The way it works is you cast Reki as early as possible, then start slamming down every single card you possibly can- Since a vast majority of the cards in your deck are legendary, that means you cycle with each card you play. Due to the way I've built this monster of a deck, almost every card has a function that involves one of the following. -Gaining mana -Drawing cards -Winning the game

The fact that almost every card in the deck replaces itself means it's extremely easy for you to drop down extremely scary creatures for nothing more than a single card draw effect, sometimes making people waste valuable counterspells on them. This brings an important note about Reki- It's a cast trigger. This means no matter what, you will be drawing your card off of your commander. The gameplan is to cast ramp cards early until you hit a 'critical mass'. The way I've always envisioned the deck is like a rocket. You fuel the rocket, and in one turn, you try to blast off. You try and storm, casting as many cards as possible, many of them paying for themselves and still drawing cards, until you hit an infinite and win the game. Speaking of winning the game, what are our win conditions?

Cloudstone Curio is a card that sneezes and goes infinite in this deck. That plus a haste enabler and a creature that taps for mana, such as Selvala, Heart of the Wilds goes infinite on the spot for mana. By then, you can draw your entire deck, and you're faced with the important cards to actually win the game with. Those are Aetherflux Reservoir and Concordant Crossroads. Aetherflux is extremely straightforward, but, the latter card actually leads to the more common win con of pure combat damage. It's very easily in this deck to flicker massive Eldrazi to exile every permanent you don't control, then with haste you can just kill everyone.

There are many other simple win cons, including mana producers and Staff of Domination. With infinite mana it's very easy to draw your entire deck thanks to your commander and find one of your other win cons. Other cards in the deck such as Dosan the Falling Leaf protect you on your blast off turns and turn off key interaction to make your deck win more often.
