Arrogant Bloodlord? Just a suggestion, you don't have to put it in.

LOL. I think this is the first I've heard of Arrogant Bloodlord. Pretty sure I don't have one lurking in my inventory anywhere. Gatherer rates this as 3.732 with 99 votes, so I must be missing something. Maybe if it was given Shadow . . . ?

I usually put this comment at the top, but forgot this time.

Comments, feedback, and suggestions are welcome. As a kindness, please keep it clean. Thanks. :-)

I don't know if you want to splash Red, but that would open up some more possibilities.

Stromkirk Captain, Falkenrath Exterminator, Stromkirk Noble, Heirs of Stromkirk.

Good suggestions all. My initial concept was to keep it mono-black, but I have been considering a splash of red as a possibility. I have a few cards I've been thinking of removing, so I could make room. In some cases, I'd have to aquire the new cards.

Some things I've considered removing:
Vampire Lacerator - Don't like the life loss. Silly, since it has 2 power, but still . . .
Disentomb - Bringing stuff back never seems to be a priority.
Morbid Plunder - Ditto.
Unearth - Ditto. This one is faster, but if I did want to bring something back, it would probably be one of the > 3 CMC creatures (or possibly Guul Draz Vampire, I guess).
Gravepurge - Ditto. See what I mean? Too many of this type of card included, even as one-ofs.
Animate Dead - Ditto, though this one can steal an opponent's dead creature.
The expensive creatures, Archfiend of Depravity and Sengir Vampire - This is supposed to be aggro, so I want to be wrapping up by the time these guys become castable. On the other hand though, if things bog down, these can help break through. Still, the suggested instants might be more effective by keeping things from bogging down in the first place.

Mono-black is a great style for Vampires in my opinion. Its what I run at FNM and against my (fairly) competitive group of friends. If you do decide to go mono-black I'd highly suggest investing in Vampire Nocturnus and Bloodline Keeper  Flip.

However, my style of mono-black doesn't match up too well against a competitively built burn deck. They can always out hustle me with the early burn spells by getting rid of my creatures or hitting my life. Eidolon of the Great Revel really hurts mono-black early on.

Vampire Nocturnus and Bloodline Keeper  Flip are awesome, and at 4 CMC, they're a bit easier on my mana than the fatties I'm running now. And the fact that Bloodline Keeper  Flip flies helps offset the flying big guys I'd be replacing.

Eidolon of the Great Revel is sweet. It shows up in a lot of Burn decks for some reason too. I've thought about making a deck in Red or Red/Green that runs things like AEther Flash and Eidolon of the Great Revel along with large creatures. Kind of a barrier for the little guys, to hold down aggro while I build up the larger ones. Nothing more than a notion at present, though.

this is dope. i love black vampires. imo i would def put in 4x Vampire Nighthawk and at least 1 Vampire Nocturnus

also i'd bump Blood Seeker and Pulse Tracker up to 4 of's. but thats just me.

def some Go for the Throat also, id say go for all 4, but they are like 3 bucks a piece now!!!

check out my 8 rare vampires deck if you want some ideas. vampires is one of my favorite type of creatures, and that deck is my baby.

im also building another 60 card singelton format black vampire tribal deck, i think 60 card singelton is a cool way to be able to make/play decks and (if you want) go with a more tribal theme while getting to use some overlooked cards if you were building a "regular playset" style deck.

hope this helps. +1 from me!

i forgot to say Gatekeeper of Malakir really great card for aggro style vamp's.

another one you might want to look at is Bloodghast but i think its like 10 bones, thats why i dont have it in my vampire deck, gonna put this one in my singleton vampires for sure though. Captivating Vampire can win games too, and it rewards you for playing all vampires. he has great synergy with Blood Artist

speaking of Blood Artist if you like lifedrain/life gain, him and Falkenrath Noble might be things to look at. maybe even a 1 off of Pontiff of Blight even though he is a zombie not a vampire.

Good suggestions all. I've modified my Maybes accordingly. I do want to keep it aggro, but a few high end finishers are not inconsistent with that theme. I'm also looking at Blood Artist and Bloodflow Connoisseur for a self-sacrifice deck that needs a complete overhaul.

It's definitely time to update this deck. Once the opponent gets a few decent creatures out, this gets shut out too easily. It needs more ability to compete once the bigger stuff gets to the table. It's not fast enough to win before then. My thoughts:

Things to Remove:
- Vampire Lacerator - Most of the time, I just don't want this card.
- Some of my cards that bring stuff back:
----- Disentomb - Can bring any creature back, so maybe I'd add it back in if I had more stuff worth recovering.
----- Morbid Plunder - More expensive. Gets 2 back, but I'd rather have the slot for a mid-range creature, I think.
----- Unearth - This one is faster. Might be worth keeping, just to get a Vampire Nighthawk back.
----- Gravepurge - I see this as more useful as a sideboard card against sweepers or milling.
----- Animate Dead - Might keep for now. I played this in a recent game to get my Archfiend of Depravity back. Chose it over the Sengir Vampire in my son's graveyard. (They had killed each other in battle.) Situational but kind of fun.
- Guul Draz Vampire and Mogis's Marauder. I like them both, but one has to make room for additions somehow.

Things to Add:
- Removal. I need some removal to help open the path for my vampires, especially the smaller non-evasive ones. Some of the candidate cards I'd have to go acquire; some I have already.
----- I like taylors4's suggestion of Urge to Feed. It can kill a good range of things and can help buff my army.
----- Drain Life and Tragic Slip are also good.
- Blood Seeker and Pulse Tracker have proven to be good in play, so I think ektoe253's suggestion of 4 of each is spot on.
- Midnight Covenant has helped with the bigger-creature problem, but 2-of is too few at present. Larger creatures might be a better help there, though. Not sure. Combined with Gruesome Deformity against the right deck, it can be good. Against removal, that can get you three-for-oned, though.
- Good creatures, as have been suggested here, such as Gatekeeper of Malakir and Vampire Nocturnus.
- Splash Red for some vampires that can grow.
- Some sort of tutoring, when it's time to fetch out something nasty.

Clearly, that's more Adds than Removes, so I have some thinking to do. LOL.
