Deck Renovations —March 14, 2018

I took a break from this deck for a while but now I'm playing it more actively again. I've decided to focus even more on ETB creatures as that is how the deck ultimately wins. I've cut down on the number of sorceries in the deck. This version of Rashmi is all about both ETB creature value or getting Rashmi triggers through instants on opponents' turns. Sorceries do neither of those things. Overwhelming Stampede stays as a key win condition while Baral's Expertise stays as a great tempo and value card that can net me extra ETB triggers if I bounce some of my own stuff.

The changes are as follows:

Mind Stone ---> Panharmonicon: With the increase in ETB creatures I think Panharmonicon is justified now for netting extra value. The only reason I didn't have it in before is because I didn't quite have enough ETB creatures to abuse its value.

Treasure Cruise + Dig Through Time ---> Hornet Queen + Tishana, Voice of Thunder: The two Delve draw spells worked well with their high CMC (at least nominal CMC) but weren't really part of the ETB game plan. Tishana has the ability to draw a ton of cards while allowing for no maximum handsize. Hornet Queen helps protect against a weakness in the deck: enemy fliers. The deck was weak against air attacks and Hornet Queen provides multiple deathtouch fliers for protection and adds a nice critical mass of creatures for Craterhoof Behemoth.

Negate + Swan Song ---> Ghostly Flicker + Essence Flux: The deck has enough counterspells so it can afford to lose a couple. I want some more ways to abuse ETB effects and these 2 "flickering" instants do that. I'm less sure about Essence Flux. It may prove to be a little weak. If Deadeye Navigator wasn't banned in my playgroup, I would obviously add that. I have to make do with these instants instead. I'm considering Illusionist's Stratagem which is a little expensive but replacing itself with a card is nice.

Recurring Insight ---> Soul of the Harvest: Another example of focusing in on the ETB creature plan. Recurring Insight is great but Soul of the Harvest synergizes more and provides me with another large threat.

Thunderfoot Baloth ---> Progenitor Mimic: I took out Progenitor Mimic a while ago and found I missed it. I just enjoy clone effects and this one again lets me abuse ETB effects. Thunderfoot Baloth was the weakest of my win con cards in the deck.

Brutalizer Exarch ---> Fierce Empath: I really want to like Brutalizer Exarch. I like its flexibility. I just keep on finding 6 mana to be a bit too much for its effect. Fierce Empath is cheaper and puts the creature in my hand instead of top of library. Sure, it can only fetch creatures 6 CMC or greater, but honestly I'm usually going for Craterhoof Behemoth, Pathbreaker Ibex, or Torrential Gearhulk anyway.

Rampant Growth + Nature's Lore ---> Llanowar Elves + Elvish Mystic: Again this change is about focusing more on creatures. I don't want all my ramp to be mana dorks as they are fragile but having a couple more does help this creature based strategy.

Hello again: I have also tried to play with the ramp, and tested Sprouting Vines with some success ... it storms at least once given that it resolves after Rashmi's trigger. Plus sometimes shuffling something away is useful.

I was wondering why not mind's dilation?

Lunar_Moon556: Just took it out a couple days ago. I found it too high variance for a 7 mana enchantment. Sometimes I would get great value and sometimes it would whiff and get destroyed before it hit anything worthwhile. It's a fun card but I want 7 mana spells to be more reliable.

Thanks for the reply. I tried it last night and nothing good happened. Thanks
