Prossh, Skyraider of Shenanigans

Commander / EDH

jarodwsams

This deck is moderately based on someone else's that I found over on MTGSalvation [(link here)](http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/commander-edh/multiplayer-commander-decklists/490524-prossh-skyraider-of-khombo).

The main goal of the deck is to go infinite with Prossh, resulting in an arbitrarily large quantity of Kobolds of Kher Keep tokens on the battlefield. Once the tokens are out, there are a few different ways to pump them into something else for the win. This is, unashamedly, a shenanigans deck. I like shenanigans; they're fun to play. Possible combos and wincons are listed below.

Infinite Combo Setups

The deck features 3 possible combos for getting the infinite mana/tokens out on the field. One of these combos is the optimal set-up because it requires only 1 other card besides Prossh, Skyraider of Kher. The other 2 combos exist because, for some reason that I just can't figure out (/sarcasm), some people just like to blow up combo set-ups as soon as they see them on the board.

The optimal combo would be Food Chain with Prossh, Skyraider of Kher, since it only requires the 2 cards. The combo goes a little something like this:

  1. Cast Food Chain
  2. Cast Prossh, Skyraider of Kher
  3. Assuming this is the first time in the game Prossh, Skyraider of Kher has been cast, you'll get 6 Kobolds of Kher Keep tokens. Add 2 each re-cast due to the increase in casting cost from Commander Tax.
  4. Activate Food Chain to exile Prossh, Skyraider of Kher. Prossh's CMC is always 6 (), so Food Chain gets you 7 (CMC + 1) mana in any one color. I'll call this "food chain mana" since it can only be used to cast creature spells.
  5. Return Prossh, Skyraider of Kher to the Command Zone instead of exile.
  6. One at a time, activate Food Chain to exile each of the six Kobolds of Kher Keep tokens. The tokens have a CMC of , so Food Chain generates 1 mana of any color. Vary the colors generated. There is now 11 mana of different colors (, , ) floating.
  7. Use 8 of your 11 food chain mana to recast Prossh, Skyraider of Kher.
  8. You get 8 Kobolds of Kher Keep tokens since you just paid to cast Prossh, Skyraider of Kher.
  9. You have 3 food chain mana still floating.
  10. Re-run the cycle all over again. The amount of mana generated by Food Chain will always be greater than the mana required to recast Prossh, Skyraider of Kher

Phyrexian Altar and Ashnod's Altar takes a little more to set up, but can be easier to execute (I think) once it's ready to go. Here's how it goes:

  1. Cast Phyrexian Altar
  2. Cast Ashnod's Altar
  3. Cast Prossh, Skyraider of Kher. Get your 6 Kobolds of Kher Keep tokens, assuming this is the first cast of the game.
  4. Sacrifice 3 Kobolds of Kher Keep to Phyrexian Altar, producing .
  5. Sacrifice Prossh, Skyraider of Kher and 2 Kobolds of Kher Keep to Ashnod's Altar, producing .
  6. Use the 8 floating mana to re-cast Prossh, Skyraider of Kher. Get 8 Kobolds of Kher Keep tokens.
  7. Sacrifice 3 Kobolds of Kher Keep to Phyrexian Altar, producing .
  8. Sacrifice 4 Kobolds of Kher Keep and Prossh, Skyraider of Kher to Ashnod's Altar, producing .
  9. Use 10 of the floating mana to re-cast Prossh, Skyraider of Kher.
  10. Repeat. The end result is infinite Kobolds of Kher Keep tokens. Because the altars are out, this means you now have infinite regular mana at your disposal.

This combo is similar to the last, but includes Mana Echoes instead of Ashnod's Altar. This one is probably the most powerful of the 3 combos, because Mana Echoes creates symbol:36 just on the first casting of Prossh, Skyraider of Kher. This is an insane amount of mana floating around. Phyrexian Altar is used to send Prossh, Skyraider of Kher back to the Command Zone and to get the needed to re-cast Prossh, Skyraider of Kher over and over again. Here's how the swarm is spawned:

  1. Cast Phyrexian Altar
  2. Cast Mana Echoes
  3. Cast Prossh, Skyraider of Kher. 6 Kobolds of Kher Keep tokens enter the battlefield. Mana Echoes checks them all and and adds symbool:36 (6 *6) to the pool.
  4. Sacrifice 2 Kobolds of Kher Keep and Prossh, Skyraider of Kher to Phyrexian Altar, producing . There's still symbol:36 floating.
  5. Use the and of the symbol:36 to re-cast Prossh, Skyraider of Kher.
  6. This time, we get 8 Kobolds of Kher Keep entering the battlefield. Added too the 4 that were already there, we have 12 Kobolds of Kher Keep tokens. Mana Echoes checks the board state and adds symbol:96 to the mana pool.
  7. Sacrifice 2 Kobolds of Kher Keep and Prossh, Skyraider of Kher to Phyrexian Altar
  8. Repeat this process as many times as you like. You're left with both infinite and Kobolds of Kher Keep tokens

Combo WinCons

Any of the combos listed above will result in a large number of Kobolds of Kher Keep tokens and some kind of mana left floating in the pool. If it's food chain mana, it can only be used to cast creatures. That's why these finishers are preferably creatures, with a few non-creature finishers in case I have options in hand.

This is just plain fun. So, I've already combo'd out and have a ton of tokens on the board. What now? Well, I just might drop Blood Artist or Falkenrath Noble as my next step. Both of these cards provide for 1 damage to target player and 1 life gained by me. You can see the connection there... infinite tokens, infinite direct player damage.

Other creature ability options in this category include Hissing Iguanar, Rage Thrower, and Zulaport Cutthroat

These are my optimal WinCon options because they're resistant to effect blockers (such as Torpor Orb and Hushwing Gryff) and Instant-Speed removal (if you stack the triggers right).

Chancellor of the Forge is one of the options in this category. I've already combo'd out and have a large number of tokens on the field, so this card produces X 1/1 red Goblin creature tokens with haste onto the battlefield. I can then swing with those tokens to finish the game.

The other big option in this category is Purphoros, God of the Forge. If this card is down before Prossh, Skyraider of Kher is played, there's 14 damage to all opponents right off the bat. As Prossh, Skyraider of Kher is cast and re-cast, the damage just keeps adding up.

These are all cards that can provide the same results (I WIN), but are not creature cards so cannot be cast with food chain mana.

Both Goblin Bombardment and Blasting Station should be pretty self-explanatory...

Impact Tremors provides a similar effect to Purphoros, God of the Forge but is slower. Now, imagine having both Purphoros, God of the Forge AND Impact Tremors out as I cast and re-cast Prossh, Skyraider of Kher...

Vicious Shadows would work, as well, but its effect is variable.
