I always liked Greed for card draw.

Oh! Kalain is one of my favorite legends to come out of the new set, and I'm happy to see people brewing already!

I feel like your deck is a little unfocused. Especially since these colors don't lend themselves to a lot of the +1/+1 counter support you're working with, and as is, you're running more creatures than most mono-green commander decks I see. Here's the main things I would look at when adding/removing cards from the deck:

1.) This deck seems to want to 'go wide' with +1/+1 counters...it wants to put a few counters on all it's creatures instead of stacking a bunch on one for maximum effect. Cards like Contagion Clasp and Animation Module might work well here to bolster the army efficiently.

2.) Your creatures are relatively small, especially if you don't yet have many +1/+1 counters or the treasures to make them. More removal might be important to get your recur-able treasure generators, like Captain Lannery, through. Terminate , Tragic Slip and Power Word Kill may seem unimpressive, but they do the job. And being that cheap, they run little risk of making you use your precious treasure mana.

3.) The cards that key off of sacrificing the treasure tokens or other permanents are probably the greatest strength of your deck. You can play this up by including fetch lands like Evolving Wilds or even things like Carrion Feeder so you can get extra value off your creatures + Ozolith.

4.) A lot of the treasure generation in here isn't great, so optimizing what you have will be important. Replacing some of the less impactful pieces with card draw/ramp will help you get to the good stuff faster. Greed and Outpost Siege are excellent budget suggestions from amongst the ones mentioned above, and Sign in Blood and Thrill of Possibility are more, less mana-intensive options.

I would trim out a few of the 'Other' category cards you're packing for the suggestions. Maga and Krenko are cute with +1/+1 counters, but if we're only getting 1 as an ETB, it's not that impressive (yes, we might be getting more, but I prefer to look at the 'fail' case), and since most of our creatures are small, Ashling is more likely to wipe our board than our opponent's, which is awful for us.

Cranial Plating as a damage source maybe? Also, Brass's Bounty could actually be a card with finisher qualities here.

Would you consider Skyclave Shadowcat ?

gavriel1136 it is one of the cards I took out to make room for all the suggestions I got. I wouldn't say it is bad though. It just takes more set up than most of the card advantage I have now.

Wait why don't I see Mr. Goldspan Dragon himself? The dude is a strictly better Hoarding Ogre that doubles the mana each treasure produces.

GrimlockVIII I'd love to have one and it was on the list but I just didn't want to spend the $30+ to get him... Maybe after I play the deck for awhile. And you'll have to excuse the other spendy cards as The Ozolith was the only $10+ I didn't have luckily.

Ah jeez, I feel your pain DrukenReaps.

I just assumed that since deck was already over 300 bucks, you wouldn't have any problem dumping an extra 30 on Goldspan. But I guess I shouldn't assume lol.

So got a decent number of games in with the deck now to get a good feel for it I think. And came away with the impression of not knowing if I like it or not... It just seems very reliant on getting the right treasure producers and if those go away I don't do much of anything. Kalain obviously doesn't do a lot of treasure production but she has been a really good pay off when those treasures are there. I found myself in one game getting multiple turns where I started a turn with 11 to 15 treasures and played out some normally decent creatures as absolute monsters. Other games the deck was ...fine? I'll be looking at ways to make it better and possibly looking at other commanders.

Prosper, Tome-Bound , Magda, Brazen Outlaw , Gadrak, the Crown-Scourge , and Fain, the Broker seem like options for keeping a similar idea to the original deck if I do decide to change the commander.

Made the change to Prosper, Tome-Bound and the tests have gone well! I should get the cards I ordered tomorrow and then play the deck the day after and over the next few weeks. It is interesting actually writing out the primer though. I'm already finding some things that were hold overs from Kalain, Reclusive Painter that ought to get the boot.

Played the deck like 10 times in 1 night. It seems like people either kill me or I go off lol. So that is a great feeling. Having a deck with enough juice in it that it will work. Unlike some others I play that can just ...do nothing too often. Some changes to be made still. I'll be putting some money into it now that I know I'll be keeping it.

Do I put Scheming Symmetry in here? Worst case it is a tutor for me and 1 opponent. Pretty bad imo but best case I target 2 opponents and cast or already have Opposition Agent... #EvilThoughts
