[Primer] Zurgo Helmsmasher - Equipment Voltron

Commander / EDH Primer RBW (Mardu) Voltron

Dumannios

Maybeboard

Enchantment (1)

Creature (1)

Originally this was just a random card I decided to build a Voltron deck around. I found the idea of him having to attack but being indestructible a cool kind of mechanic to break our playgroup's mentality of being too afraid to swing with anything unless it was for lethal.

And he gets the job done. With the right ramp we can have him up and smashing by turn 3.

Win cons in this deck are cards that give him protection from colors(all the swords!) so that he can swing for commander damage while also being protected from removal on other turns in which he is otherwise vulnerable.

There's also Worldslayer which is insane because it destroys EVERYTHING, including your board state, except for Zurgo Helmsmasher. I know land destruction is frowned upon in general, but if it means you will close out the game in the next few turns I think it's fair game (Best to discuss with your playgroup beforehand). Since the aim of the deck is to kill people with commander damage, it won't take long and we keep destroying the board on each turn as long as we can deal damage to a player.

Another fun card to throw out there is Assault Suit. This card looks funky but with this you can basically dish out commander damage on each other player's turn as well. With the way equipment works, this means cards like Sword of Feast and Famine, Sword of the Animist still trigger for you instead of your opponent since it's under your control and it doesn't give the ability to the creature. Cards like Loxodon Warhammer will give the life to your opponent however, since it gives the ability to Zurgo, and Zurgo will be under the opponent's control.

Other than that it's your standard equipment tutors, cheaper equip costs stuff and ramp.
