You are lost in the woods Show

You meet an old hermit on the road near a fork, sitting in the grass with his back up against a tree, dozing in the shade. Gently shaking his shoulder, you rouse him to wakefulness. When asking him about the directions that these roads lead, he tells you an interesting bit of gossip.

"Oh I know you see two roads there, but don't trust your eyes. Really only one. That road there, that one you don't want to go down. Old city used to be there, nothing but death now. No one ever gone that way come back. Not that I've seen. And I've seen plenty go that way! You know how it goes, some place that's dangerous to go starts having rumours spread about how there must be some treasure or something there being protected by something or other. Don't you go getting that idea in your head. You go down that road, you aren't coming back up it."

Seeing the look in your eye, the Hermit knows you've taken his bait. He acts flustered, as if you're just another adventurer who won't heed his advice. As he watches you walk down the road towards the ruined city, he sits back down and pulls out a crust of bread to nibble on. Breaking off a piece and giving it to a rat hiding in the shadows of the grass, the Hermit tells him "Tell the King he has another visitor."

Resting his back up against the tree, the Hermit closes his eyes to take a light rest. Shortly, he's woken up by a gentle tugging on his ear. A squirrel has come to tell him they've stolen another travelers map, and they are on their way up the road. The Hermit scratches the squirrels ears and closes his eyes again. The travellers will wake him when they get here, they always do. How else would they get directions? He chuckles to himself and let's the warm day take him back to sleep.

Rat Deck

Early game this deck will look to get cheap creatures out while also disrupting the opponents hand. Once you have a couple rats out and have made your opponent discard some cards, you drop the King to try and pick up some more rats to fill your hand and turn small rat damage into poison counters. Use the removal to help your rats get through, use the cheap resurrect abilities and ninjitsu to get multiple uses of your ETB creatures while you try to flood the field with rats.

The effect the rats have on your opponents becomes obvious very quickly. The first game most get caught off guard by the quickness of the rats, and any game you play after that you find them playing much more defensive than usual. They choose to block your deathtouch rats early rather than let those two early poison counters through. Even though they could attack and get damage on you, they hold back because they are scared of the poison.
