The deck is a pauper version of Commander: The commanders are Uncommon Legendary Creatures and all cards in the deck are Commons.

The idea is to play this against regular Commander decks, which have better cards in them than this deck, which leads to the strategy of the deck: plunder your opponent's decks using Breeches, Brazen Plunderer.

To achieve this goal many cards in the deck give some of your creatures evasion, for example: Aqueous Form or Slip Through Space. Also, all Common pirates with flying are in the deck.

Another way for your pirates to plunder is to allow them to ping your opponents for damage, because Breeches, Brazen Plunderer does not require your pirates to deal combat damage. Some cards that do this are: Fire Whip and Viridian Longbow.

Finally, there is an infinite combo with Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator, Amoeboid Changeling or Imagecrafter and Ingenious Artillerist or Reckless Fireweaver. By turning either of the pingers into Pirates and having an artifact enter the battlefield, Malcolm will create treasure tokens which trigger the pingers' abilities to win the game.
