Finetuning and adding mana —Jan. 9, 2023

It always felt a bit off to have two niv-mizzets in one deck despite of not even relying on them for being a game-winning combo-piece. So i figured it might help much to take one out and replace it with a tutor. That way the tutor can still represent niv-mizzet but can also be used more situational to get other spells that i might need depending on the board state of the game. Also adding another instant to the deck supports my overall spellslinger theme much better. Long story short: Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind is out, Long-Term Plans is in.

Fixing lands/mana in this deck, i took out The Locust God as the synergy with my commander wasn't really there anyway and replaced it with an Island. For the same reasons i took out Toralf, God of Fury  Flip and replaced it with a Fellwar Stone being the "best" mana rock i could get from my bulks. Boring but necessary. Looking at my overall mana now i have 37 lands (one of them being Spikefield Hazard  Flip ) and 7 mana rocks now. Is this enough now? How do you feel about the mana in general in this deck? Please let me know

My version of the deck isn't nearly as budget freindly but i've opted to go much harder in the pinger route. I have access to draw 7s and being able to curiosity effect on the commander is really nice. You only need to commit a handful of pingers to the board and keep them untapped as a threat for removal (defensive/political tactic). Orb of resurrection feels like an auto include. I also cannot recommend enough people playing spark double and if your budget allows sakashima of a thousand faces. being able to copy your commander is super gas.
