PDH(UR) - League Guildmage Shenanigans

Imma level with you guys: I'm bored of Izzet commanders in PDH.

Spellheart and Crackles are linear, overpowered, and focused entirely too much on eliminating one player at a time.

The Chakram kids and the good Guildmages are combo city, which is super boring and also lame.

It's a shame since I love the flavor of Izzet. Mad science is my jam. But how to translate that into fun gameplay?

Enter League Guildmage . She's actively pretty terrible compared to Izzet Guildmage and Nivix Guildmage , and much much more difficult to combo with. She's perfect.

Like the other guildmages, the focus is on copying spells and how to use that to generate value. The others don't tap, so you can go infinite by repeatedly copying a spell that generates mana. The advantage Leage GM has is that her copy ability can be cheaper, since it's tied to CMC. And the trick there is to find things with big effects for low CMC.

Cards like Clutch of Currents , Burst Lightning , Into the Roil , and Goblin Grenade are where we want to be. These cards all have additional or alternative costs that turn them into big-impact spells, but the cost to copy them with the guildmage is still real cheap, since their CMC is low. Even if you awaken Boiling Earth , you can copy it for just to get another awaken effect (one 8/8 or two 4/4s, your choice!). Copying a Cathartic Reunion draws us six cards for five mana and only two discards. Hopefully the discards are Obsessive Search and Alchemist's Greeting .

So copying big impact spells for reasonable mana quantities is how we generate value. But how do we win? As is the case with most of my decks: we Beat Face. Stuff like Dragon Fodder and Forbidden Friendship are easy to copy and good without being copied. It only takes a couple of those to build up a solid army, and then we can overload Dynacharge and copy it for . Or if you're very ambitious, copy an entwined Goblin War Party (grand total: 12 mana) to create six hasty goblins and give your board +2/+2.

I've built a lot of "play creatures and attack" decks in my time, but this one feels like it'll be pretty unique and interesting, with a bunch of weird versatile control/value midgame elements and an explosive endgame.
