I guess this is a bit of a passion project. I've wanted to make a Rat Colony or Relentless Rats deck for some time, but I could never really get it right. It always felt like an expensive joke to me. I've also wanted to make an Indulging Patrician PEDH deck for a while as well. I keep running into commons I like, but never really could make room for. This is my sort of sorry attempt to combine all of those aspirations into one one package.

So first, you have the Rat Colony. They're nifty little guys who die quickly, which has some downsides, but we are in black, the color of "It's can't be all bad if it also hurt someone else." So to benefit from our pretties marching to their end, we have Gutless Ghoul who can sacrifice them upon impact, furthering Indulging Patrician's effect, along with pauper aristocrat all-star Falkenrath Noble who does the same thing, but for free. If you are worried about defense, we have Lumenthread Field to give out little guys a little bit more butt against those those mean 1/X creatures. We also have Fortifying Positions which gives us a Food token to pop off IP's ability. There are a handful of spells to put our little dudes back in out hands or back in our deck should we need more.

The second part of the deck is more in line with what you'd expect from a deck based around Indulging Patrician. There is Vizkopta Vampire who pretty much functions as a rat with lifelink, so if you need to bring an opponent a little close to the brink, you can always swing with it for a one-off use of IP's ability. The deck also has a Soul Sister's component to take advantage of all of the rats coming into play combined with the commander's ability. There is also everyone's favorite mono-black closer, Gary to help increase the clock on the game. Worse comes to worse, you can sacrifice him him to Gutless Ghoul and use of the necromancy cards to recast him from your hand.

Also, if need be, you can switch out IP for Lurrus of the Dream-Den and have a very low-budget commander deck.
