Sideboard

Maybeboard

The sideboard is actually the "Wishboard" for Cunning Wish .

The plan is draw-go control! But there is a gimmick; each game I have the table select one of the piles from the 'maybeboard' to be included in the maindeck as the deck's final few cards. Which pile would you choose?

What commander is used depends on the pile chosen.

  1. (Tasigur) The Spikebuster pile is the one pile that isn't normally a choice. But when a 'competitive edh' player is at the table, this pile gets used over the others to help keep that player in check. The pile has an extra card to swap in for Cunning Wish (more competitive players tend to prefer no wishes be allowed I've found).

  2. (Muldrotha) The Mindslaver pile wants to loop Mindslaver, continually taking over the most relevant player's turn to steer the game towards victory. Dark Depths + Thespian's Stage is the other plan.

  3. (Vorosh) The Muse pile is looking to abuse the muse.

  4. (Mimeoplasm) The Stax pile is doing stax things and reanimating creatures of pure evil!

  5. (Vorosh) The Omniscience pile wants to cast Omniscience.

  6. (Vorosh) The Stasis pile is looking to lock the table out of their untap step!

  7. (Vorosh) The Time Warp pile gives Vorosh the tools to string extra turns together in the late game after amassing cards.

  8. (Vorosh) The stratagem pile is either looking to assemble Cyclonic Rift + Myojin, Stratagem + Mystic Snake + Eternal Witness, or both.

  9. (Vorosh) The Time Stretch pile is a bunch of cards that are fun to play in a control deck but don't normally make the cut... and Time Stretch.

Eventually the deck wants to win with Vorosh. With his pump effect, he can take out an opponent in three hits, or take out three opponents in 5 hits! You don't want to expose Vorosh unless he can likely win the game quickly without dying. Each pile provides a different plan for giving Vorosh the time and protection needed to get the job done.

Notably none of the piles feature an infinite combo (even the omniscience pile).
