Oracle Hulk Primer

I win the game in a Flash

Why play this version over other versions?

With the spoiling of the new card, Thassa's Oracle, I feel like my old Breakfast Hulk and Sacred Hulk lists needed a revision, so i made this. I believe it’s the best of both Breakfast Hulk and Sacred Hulk. Here are my reasons why.

  1. Sacred hulk boasts a high interactive suite compared to the traditional Breakfast Hulk deck. Sacred Hulk can’t run any white care aside from Sacred Guide, so it drops all white and theDread Return/Angel of Glory's Risewin con line in favor for Sacred Guide and Laboratory Maniac Hulk piles, or consultation/tainted lab man win con lines, with a ton of backup. The best part of sacred hulk is no dead draws, like dread return, and high interaction in replacement for all your white cards and wins cons that don’t work without your white cards.

  2. Breakfast Hulk boasts a super high speed with every viable tutor known to magic (I don’t have Imperial Seal so it’s not in my list, but I recommend dropping Counterspell for it). This version of a Hulk deck is packed full of win cons and an appropriate amount of backup. Only bad thing about this deck is drawing Dread Return or Narcomoeba when trying to go fast with a hermit druid or breakfast combo. The best part of this deck is a high speed and high combo density.

  3. This deck retains the speed of breakfast by keeping every tutor, but drops almost all of the high cmc spells that you never actually cast (you cheat them in). So it keeps the speed of breakfast hulk, and has a higher combo density, while also getting the spell suite and the more protected win con of sacred. This deck is different than Breakfast because it drops the Angel line and replaces it with Oracle, which adds 2 new ways to win. It also adds Demonic Consultation which opens up 4 new ways to win. (as opposed to my old Breakfast Hulk deck).

the Main Win Con

Flash and Protean Hulk.

Tutor up these two cards as fast as possible, and then wait for your opening to slip it through your opponents. This line is the safest because of Grand Abolisher so i tend to go for this route because everyone in my Meta runs a stifle. The combo goes:

  1. Cast Flash .

  2. Refuse to pay for your Protean Hulk which sends it to the graveyard from the battlefield.

  3. Protean Hulk’s leave the battlefield trigger goes on the stack. It tutors up 6cmc worth of creatures if resolved, usually grabbing Cephalid Illusionist, Nomads en-Kor, Grand Abolisher and any one drop.

  4. Mill your deck with the illusionist and nomads, the breakfast combo.

  5. Flashback Dread Return sacrificing Nomads en-Kor, Cephalid Illusionist, and the one drop, grabbing Thassa's Oracle

  6. Thassa's Oracle’s etb resolves and you win

if there is any grave hate, or if you are worried about grave hate, use this method below.

This line wins at instant speed

  1. Cast Flash
  2. Refuse to pay for your Protean Hulk which sends it to the graveyard from the battlefield.
  3. Protean Hulk’s leave the battlefield trigger goes on the stack and tutors up 6 cmc worth of creatures if resolved, grabbing Nomads en-Kor, Cephalid Illusionist, Thassa's Oracle and any one drop. If you manage to play either Nomads en-Kor or Cephalid Illusionist before casting flash, then you should grab Grand Abolisher, just in case someone is trying to get frisky.
  4. Your 6cmc worth of creatures enter the battlefield, putting Thassa's Oracle’s trigger on the stack (watch out for Stifle).
  5. Mill yourself with Nomads en-Kor and Cephalid Illusionist in response to the trigger going on the stack
  6. Then the ETB trigger of Thassa's Oracle resolves. Yay, you win.

Backup Win Cons

Cast Thassa's Oracle first to do the first two

  1. Demonic Consultation + Thassa's Oracle .
  2. Tainted Pact + Thassa's Oracle .
  3. Laboratory Maniac + Demonic Consultation .
  4. Laboratory Maniac + Tainted Pact .
  5. bomberman Auriok Salvagers + Lion's Eye Diamond . This generates infinite mana, cast Thrasios, Triton Hero, draw deck, play either Laboratory Maniac or Thassa's Oracle then win. (Add Memory's Journey in for an optional spell loop with Swan Song + Assassin's Trophy for infinite birds and no one having any permanents).
  6. Hermit Druid + two creatures to flashback Dread Return which grabs Thassa's Oracle and wins if no one responds.
  7. Neoform Oracle in and cast Demonic Consultation or Tainted Pact in response.
  8. Flash in Thassa's Oracle then cast Demonic Consultation or Tainted Pact. If exiling cards from libraries is a problem in your Meta, I recommend adding a loop into your deck, and maybe a second infinite mana line (Bloom Tender + Freed from the Real).

optional win cons: Memory’s Journey Loops/Timetwister Loops

This only works for Bomberman (secondary win con #5) with my deck

  1. Generate infinite mana, and then draw your deck. Cast a spell that Swan Song can counter, i like using Chain of Vapor, and countering it with Swan Song. This gives you a 2/2 Bird.

  2. Cast Timetwister (i don’t have one so i do Memory's Journey loops instead) to shuffle everything back and draw seven cards. Or if you’re using Memory's Journey, cast Memory's Journey, targeting Swan Song and the spell we countered.

  3. Repeat step 1 and 2 once then move to step 4

  4. Cast Noxious Revival on the Timetwister or Memory's Journey to put it back on top of your library. Pay with a not the 2 life

  5. Activate Thrasios, Triton Hero and draw Timetwister / Memory's Journey.

  6. Cast Timetwister to shuffle everything back and draw seven cards or cast Memory's Journey targeting Noxious Revival, Swan Song, and the spell you are countering.

  7. Draw these 3 cards with your commander.

  8. Go back to step 1 and start over until you have infinite birds.

Repeat the Loop, replacing Swan Song and the other spell with a removal spell to clear our opponents' boards.Assassin's Trophy being the best of the best for this.

I intend to include a play by play of every card in the deck and the various uses of them, but this may take some time for me to get down, so i’ll probs slowly add to this tab until i get them all. Sorry if the tabs cause trouble, this is my first time trying to get a deck/primer on TappedOut. (It’s weird).

  1. Sylvan Safekeeper: in your flash pile, you will usually have 1 cmc worth of space open, but safekeeper is a hindrance to us in the pile. We only need oracle for the ETB, and if someone tries to remove the breakfast combo, we would just reactivate the combo in response. Add this in your list if you have an issue with targeted creature removal when going with lab man lines

  2. Null Rod: entirely a Meta choice. my meta includes food chain and hulk decks, which run approx. 5 artifacts a piece (one of the hulk decks is 5 color good stuff and doesn’t even run a sol ring). So this tends to hinder me more than others. (I recommend keeping it side board in case of teferi, azami, emry or Arcum decks.

  3. Survival of the Fittest: we have so many tutors that this isn’t needed. It usually paints a target on my back, plus with oracle, i don’t need to discard any creatures (as opposed to when i was doing breakfast hulk which needed to trade between combos on the fly). I might add this back if i feel i need it.

  4. Any ritual spell: ad nauseum is the only big spell I’m going to cast. I don’t run Necropotence so i don’t really need these.

  5. Hermit Druid. It sounds good in theory, but i don’t want to run a mill my deck creature that doesn’t have any self-included win con (like it does with Dread Return/Angel of Glory's Rise). It essentially only goes with oracle, and i might add it in just for that, but right now it needs play testing

IN

  1. Hermit Druid.
  2. Dread Return. I found myself drawing the breakfast combo often with no way to just win off of it, so i added this in as well as hermit druid.
  3. Scrubland over my island so hermit druid works.
  4. Neoform i want to turn my one drops into Thassa's Oracle so i can cast consultation and pact in response to the ETB.

January 13th

  1. Hapless Researcher. I found myself wanting to discard Oracle to do a safer, sorcery speed, flash pile.
  2. Avacyn's Pilgrim. I found myself wanting white, as i rarely play savannah.

OUT

  1. Bloom Tender. i found myself not needing this much mana
  2. Dovin's Veto. + sucks to get for me
  3. Island. Stated above
  4. Finale of Devastation. Paying twice the cost of a creature, even if it enters the battlefield, isn’t as good in oracle as it is for breakfast, at least for me. I’ll continue to play test it.

January 13th

  1. Counterspell. I cant justify having 3 counter spells.
  2. Arbor Elf over Avacyn's Pilgrim
I would like to thank Lab Man Siggie for all the hard work and dedication he put into the og breakfast hulk deck. This list would not be possible without his hardwork.

This decklist will be frequently updated until I’m satisfied with my shell around my combos. Seeing as Thassa's Oracle was spoiled a day ago, I’m very anxious to play test this card and hope and pray it doesn’t get Flash banned

The primer part will be updated slowly as i get time. Eventually I’ll include a card discussion and match up tab as well as a game plan panel.
