Maybeboard

You may not know her name...she may be a lowly Class C Hero, Rank 2...she may wear a crazy yellow and red outfit...but you will know her by her strength, by her will, and by a single bone-shattering punch. And I'm Genos (aka Aurelia, the Warleader), the lowly student of Sensei Gisela, here to introduce you to the One Punch Woman. I'm a hero (Class A, doncha know), so I'm more of a fighter than a writer, but I did my best to introduce this deck to you.

Use our lower-rank heroes like Tajic, Blade of the Legion (aka Hammerhead), Jazal Goldmane , Firemane Avenger and Anax and Cymede to soften up the enemy. Then, Gisela, Blade of Goldnight arrives...the One Punch Woman. With her inspirational leadership, our heroes fight with doubled strength, and Gisela breaks any card that reads "deal damage".

Luckily, like many supervillians, EDH pods underestimate Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. That's because our card advantage is conditional and so is our ramp. So, many players will underestimate us until we take them out with a single punch. To this end, it's important that we don't draw too much attention to ourselves in the early game, attacking frequently but never directed at a single player (unless they are pillowfort or stax). Don't land any win-cons like Curse of Bloodletting until after the One-Punch Woman arrives, because otherwise I'll be targeted and have to be re-assembled. And don't be afraid to lose some life to save your creatures, because there aren't more where those come from. Don't worry. The One-Punch Woman will save the day if she sticks to the board with Emerge Unscathed up to support her.

Yeah, so if you've watched my adventures on Netflix, you know I, Genos, get beat up a lot. So I've gotta do my best to survive until Gisela arrives. Here's how we make that happen:

Ramp: Iron Myr, Oreskos Explorer, Kor Cartographer , Hedron Archive, Boros Signet help to accelerate Gisela's arrival.

Control: Yes, you heard me. The Hero Association likes to do some damage control until "the girl who's a hero for fun" can lock it down. RW control (or at least anti-control). Bathe in Light , Cloudshift, Lapse of Certainty, Wear / Tear, Repel the Darkness , Lightning Helix, Duergar Hedge-Mage, Leave No Trace , are all things that prevent us from dying before we can stick our commander. Removal also comes in forms like Boros Battleshaper and Goblin Diplomats , both of whom can force opposing commanders to attack unfavorably.

Hit Hard and Fast: Deploy C and B class heroes to stabilize the crisis. Usually, this deck can get at least 1 opponent down to about 25 life before the board state starts clogging up. Once Gisela lands, 25 life is pretty much negligible. Undercosted creatures that have Battalion and other evasion help us to accomplish that, like Firemane Avenger , Firemane Angel, Instigator Gang   , Breakneck Rider   , Boros Reckoner, and pretty much every other creature in the deck helps to push through damage in the early stages of the game.

Anthems and lords also help. Both of our flipped creatures, Glory of Warfare, Veteran Armorer, Angel of Jubilation, Ogre Battledriver all help us through the midgame so that our aggressive weenies remain relevant, hitting harder than they should, and repelling any attacks to us.

Rally the Righteous + Zada, Hedron Grinder is literally the most hilarious win condition I've ever seen. Get out your calculator. Zada also breaks things like Emerge Unscathed, Bathe in Light , and Assault Strobe. Anax and Cymede and Mirrorwing Dragon serve as a second-tier Zadas. However, in a pinch, the combat tricks can go to Gisela for a one-punch Voltron hit, or to give her protection from pesky spot removal.

Another way to win is for Gisela to just punch the ground, knocking over all but our heroes. Magmaquake and Brightflame are essentially one-sided board wipes with Gisela out.

And finally, Consecutive Normal Punches can do the trick. Pair Gisela with a full board state and any evasion from Legion Loyalist to Brave the Elements to Anax and Cymede to Seismic Stomp to Curse of Bloodletting and win on the spot. That's how we do it, people.

Hope you enjoyed the introduction to the One Punch Woman. Next time on the show, we'll see how easy it is to wipe the grin off the Sea King's face when you deliver a single punch of righteousness.

Suggestions, constructive criticism, and upvotes are welcome! Let me know what you think! I'd love to trim my non-creature spells -- please suggest ways I could take out extraneous spells that don't protect Gisela or provide win-cons with Radiance or copy effects. Thanks, and cheers!
