More mana! —May 15, 2022

Streets of New Capenna offered nothing new, but I made some changes to increase mana efficiency and offer more avenues to infinite mana.

Dropped:

  • Cemetery Prowler - underperformed horrifically.
  • Questing Beast - turbo fog decks have become less prevalent in my meta, and with the addition of Ram Through, I think the deck can manage just fine.
  • Added:

  • Argothian Elder - big mana energy
  • Ley Weaver - see above
  • big shout out to Inkmoth for being the inspiration behind many changes to the deck over the last year. Hanging out on the yeva discord has helped me step my game up.

This deck is so awesome! I haven't been in the game since Return to Zendikar so I have zero suggestions that haven't already been talked about. I was wondering if you had time, could you look at my deck The crushing jaws of a howling slaybeast? I've recently decided to try and make it more... scary and that's how I came across your deck.

If not, than it's perfectly alright!

Artemis_Swift absolutely, I'll check it out. And thanks for the compliments!

Yoooo, Saryth, the Viper's Fang is a banger. Why do I not have this in my God-Eternal Rhonas deck (Power Cycle)?! It just does so much. Thanks for the idea!

DevoMelvminster it's been a fantastic add. I can only imagine how good it'll be with Rhonas.

Hi Kamerot, I am putting this deck together right now and going to play it. Only one thing I am not understanding and that is the use of the pain lands. Is there another cards that is useful in trigger and I’m just overlooking it?

    Thanks

Pain lands? I'm assuming you mean the fetch lands?

If so, they aren't needed. I like them because it gets extra landfall triggers for Lotus Cobra and Avenger of Zendikar, and they shuffle your library if you dont like what you see on top with sylvan library. Then there us also the synergy with Rings of Brighthearth, where you can grab 2 lands.

You can definitely run the deck without them though. I did for years. Just run basic forests instead.

I figured you had a plan for them and I certainly did not think of the deck shuffle. Thanks for explaining. I am looking forward to playing this when the rest of the cards arrive. I’ll keep you posted. Cheers

Hi Kamerot, Sooo I was thinking about what you said on removing cemetery prowler and I came across a fantastic replacement. Argothian Elder. That card paired with one mana and Ashaya soul of the wild. Voila!

I've been considering going that route, along with Ley Weaver. My playgroup power level has risen tremendously over the last year, so it may be time for more routes to infinite mana. Thank you for the suggestion!!

Hi Kamerot, Got to play this deck last week. Unfortunately I lost to three board wipes one being catastrophe. The deck did recover fast twice which I was very impressed with. I ended up adding Vorinclex, Voice of hunger, and Dimond valley this week. Going to play it tonight. I have to say I really enjoyed it anyway. I am going to play it some more but I might go the infect route in the future. Sometimes you have nasty players that you have to get nasty on lol. Thank you

Yeah, a lot of board wipes hurts. I've tried to make the deck be able to recover as quickly as possible. And vorinclex was a long time staple of the deck, I only dropped it to lower the overall cmc. It should work out well for you

I love the idea of this deck, that you have used your favourite card as your General, the name, that it is mono coloured, and the amount of updates, and blinging, that you have done for it.

That ticks all the boxes, for me. Love it. +1.

Oh, and those are the best Forests ever printed, too.

Argy thank you very much, glad you like it. And I couldn't agree more on the forests. My wallet did a happy dance when I saw that art getting reprinted in double masters.

    Yeah, same.

The fact that so many full art lands have been in lots of recent sets, also brought the price down.
