OB NOB!! Mono black control

This deck seeks to cast mono blacks strengths, using a combination of acceleration, card advantage and control. Black's versatility gives it a dynamic approach to controlling a 4 player game with symmetrical effects. This deck uses discard, creature destruction, mana denial, and pressures life totals all while gaining card advantage and creating a board state of large evasive creatures. This deck takes advantage of a greedy manabase using accelerators like Nykthos Shrine to Nyx, Extraplanar Lens, and Crypt Ghast in addition to large mana rocks such as Guilded Lotus, Lotus Bloom and Thran Dynamo. Waste Not, Geths Grimore combo with all your discard spells, the combination of attacking you opponents resources with Pox and/or mass discard with Waste Not/ Geth's Grimore is game breaking. Necropotence and Necrologia can be used in tandem with cards which remove hand size limit, drawing large amounts of cards and then using superior mana making ability to cast more magic cards than the opponent. Black also has access to additional tutors in Beseech the Queen and Grim Tutor in addition to other tutors. To support the card draw and tutoring this deck uses life gain in Sangromancer, Exanguinate, Grey Merchant of Asphodel. Chains of Mephistopheles puts the hurt on blue decks, while Nether Void, Winter Orb, Infernal Darkness, Sphere of Resistance and Contamination all attack the opponents mana. Crucible of Worlds or Liliana of the Dark Realms can each be used to set up a Death Cloud. This deck makes casting spells very difficult by either taxing, discarding or destroying each players manabase which is why we are running 36 mana producing lands in addition to Maze of Ith, Tabernacle, and Dark Depths; which combos with Vampire Hexmage. The many little combos and high density of tutors in this deck really activate the way the deck plays, giving the pilot many lines to choose from. Our commander Ob Nixilis can hit the board as early as turn 2 and puts pressure on the opponents life totals for any opponent who dare searches. Ob Nixilis is a great way to set up before destroying creatures with Pox, Toxic Deluge, Reiver Demon and others, as these often onesided boardwipes will grow ObNob into a a large flying trampler. Best case scenario ObNob will completely lock out an opponent who decided to use a commander or combo which uses chains of tutors, such as Yisan the Wanderer Bard, Zur the Enchanter or Flash Hulk Combo. In addition the life pressure can shut down decks whose goal is to tutor for Ad Naseaum, Doomsday, Razaketh or Necropotence. Ob Nixils in tandem with Chains of M. which makes it difficult for the opponents to manipulate their hand, locking them into top deck draws. Ob Nixilis will have to work together with the other creatures and life destruction spells win the game the hard way, as this deck stubbornly avoids any combos or cards which do not strictly adhere to control mechanics. The benefits to this is being very consistent, and having a reliable gameplan, the pilot is able to make optimized and dynamic plays, the speed and consistency to this deck is spooky. This deck has the nostalgic feeling of the bygone days where mono black decks were not only viable but dominate, also it has a archetypal quality which I enjoy.. I hope you do too.
