Originally Xantcha, Sleeper Agent was the commander for this deck, but gifting her to another player always felt really dirty. After a couple games using Kardur, Doomscourge it feels a lot more "fair". Outright one-shotting everyone is currently out of the question, it is possible to one shot a player if they are unlucky and and catch a Phage the Untouchable to the face. If I want to try to outright win, I have other decks for that - this was intended to be more casual and fun for my opponents to play against.

I've always wanted to put Jinxed Choker in a deck but could never bring myself to justify a slot for it. When I came across Xantcha, Sleeper Agent I immediately knew I wanted to build a deck around it and the theme would be traitorous creatures and unwanted 'gifts'. The original build for this deck featured a lot more cards which opponents would gain control of, such as Jinxed Idol, Jinxed Ring, Drooling Ogre and Witch Engine. While I like the idea of these, after my first game I decided to revise my list for something a little more consistent and to not just play straight up gimmicks.

Goal of the deck is to add a degree of randomness but also having the ability to "stir the pot" via politics in a somewhat controlled fashion, all while not being outright annoying (looking at you Scrambleverse, Knowledge Pool and Timesifter players). Cards like Crown of Doom, Contested War Zone and Coveted Jewel are included with the intention of allowing me to sit back and watch the chaos unfold, while not purposefully highlighting myself as the threat. Wishclaw Talisman, Spectral Searchlight, Diaochan, Artful Beauty and even Head Games all offer the potential to help those whom I have formed temporary alliances with.

Known synergies that were purposefully included in the deck depend on either Conjurer's Closet or Bazaar Trader, using these to permanently keep creatures which I steal via Act of Treason effects and increasing the power of my Coffin Queen.
