I actually built this deck years ago now, only with a different mechanic. I was using more of the transmute mechanic, to me the deck was slow and sluggish 1v1. It did much better in 2 headed giant as long as someone could protect me and I could excel a tad in a support role.

This deck is based off the card Neverending Torment . Two copies of Brainspoil are still in the deck as a transmute mechanic. I use Energy Tap and Burnt Offering along with the two creatures Shambling Attendants and Gurmag Angler to generate colorless and black mana and card draw. Spellbook is in the deck just in case you pull it for unlimited hand size to extract more cards out of opponent's library. It is not needed for the deck to go off.

This version is highly competitive.
