January 16, 2016 - Deck Retirement

This is my Twin deck. Shortly after Modern became a format, this was the deck that I wanted to play.

The main focus of the deck is to draw out Deceiver Exarch or Pestermite with Splinter Twin and win. If the combo is unavailable, I attempt to beatdown opponents with my available creatures.

Deceiver Exarch - Part of the Combo. 4 toughness makes it ideal for blocking.

Pestermite - Part of the Combo. 2 power and flying allows it to beatdown opponents if I can't combo out.

Snapcaster Mage - Allows me to reuse draw spells and removal. Can still dent opponents life with it afterwards.

Spellskite - Eats all of the burn and removal. Blocks well and protects the Combo against hard hate cards, like Abrupt Decay.

Splinter Twin - The other part of the Combo.

Roast - Heavy damage burn spell. Kills treats.

Serum Visions - Cantrip spell. Digs for combo pieces and sets up following draws.

Cryptic Command - Powerful modal spell.

Electrolyze - Burn and card draw.

Izzet Charm - One of the best value spells in Modern IMO. Counterspell, creature removal, or looting. Every mode is fantastic and useful.

Lightning Bolt - Staple Red card in Modern. Very efficient burn spell. Kills creatures and can finish off opponents.

Mana Leak - Soft counter. Place holder for a second Cryptic Command

Remand - Tempo counterspell. Stalls opponents while digging for combo pieces.

Temple of Epiphany - I'm having some good success with it. 'Free' scry 1 is good in Modern.

desolate lighthouse - Looting for mid-late game.

Tectonic Edge - Modern's Wasteland. Keeps manlands and utility lands from getting out of hand.

Anger of the Gods - Hurts decks that rely on multiple bodies. Prevents death triggers and recursion

Batterskull - Go-to card against aggro and midrange. Also against matchups where I need to rely on beatdown more.

Blood Moon - Shuts down utility lands and 3-colour decks that don't fetch up enough basics.

Echoing Truth - Catch-all bounce spell. Handy against tokens.

Negate - Noncreature counterspell. extremely useful against creature-light matchups

Jace, Architect of Thought - Slows down creature decks and digs.

Keranos, God of Storms - Value engine against slow, grindy matchups

Pia and Kiran Nalaar - Good against creature-light/creatureless decks and decks with small creatures to burn up.

Shattering Spree & Shatterstorm - Artifact hate.
