Many people have hated on the TWD Secret Lair; and I gotta say, I don't care. When TWD first came out I wasn't a huge fan. Negan changed that as he made the show good, so when Wizards showed the Negan card; I knew that I had to get it. Ask for my stance on Wizard's cash grab and importing characters outside of the Magic realm; I also don't care. Magic the Gathering is a card game, and a very expensive hobby. Everything Wizard's does is a cash grab. They want our money and we give it to them. Like any other company, if there is money to be made, they should take it! The second part of people's argument is that this is targeted for Commander players and is limited run, so are Commander decks and you all don't complain about them! Commander Legends will be limited printed, just like every set before it. The other argument is that TWD isn't Magic related, and I agree but neither was Godzilla or My Little Pony or D&D or Transformers. Yet no one is complaining about those. Yes these are special cards that will only be printed once, and that is painful, but so is the original dual lands or Black Lotus. I have the money, so I willing gave it to Wizards for a product I loved.

Not only is he the character all my friends say I would be in TWD, but his card is in my colors. His abilities are not overwhelming strong, but he seems like he would be a fun commander. When he comes into play, you get to force someone to sac one or two creatures. It could be enjoyable trying to make someone guess who they have to sac or who you would want them to sac. I would enjoy a mind game like that. His second ability allows you to ramp. So I feel that a treasure sub-theme would need to take place over the sac theme.

Now I know everyone out their is going to call me a traitor for supporting Wizards' cash grab scheme. And this is my response:

WHAT'S IN THE DECK Show

I AM NEGAN

I choose Negan, The Cold-Blooded for several reasons. The first, like I said in the intro, is he is the character all my friends say I would be like in TWD and he is in my colors. Many people maybe put off by his card for he is one of, if not the most, hated character in TWD. I personally like him and that won't change.

Building the deck, I chose to build around his ability to give me treasure tokens when my opponents sac a creature. I can then use those tokens to ramp quickly or simply win the game. Negan's deck is in two parts: treasure synergy and sac synergy.

PEOPLE ARE RESOURCES

The first part of the deck is to force opponents to sac their creatures. I wanted to do it at instant speed or be able to re-use the effects. I also tried to make it to where only my opponents sac a creature while my board stayed the same. These can be found under my "SAC" custom category.

PEOPLE ARE THE FOUNDATION

After forcing people to sac their creatures, I have a few cards that make it to where I gain MORE effects for their stuff dying. Wither it be pinging them, getting bigger, or making them sac more stuff. These can be found under my "DEATH" custom category.

DID YOU JUST THREATEN ME

Since I am playing the most hated card in the history of Magic, I will be the target of most people's attacks and hatred. I am considering adding in some pillow fort cards to build up my defense, but until then this will be about my removal spells. Since I will be targeting creatures, this is lacking a bit. I have several board wipes here and all my single target can target just about anything. You can find them as my "REMOVAL" custom category.

YOU BELONG TO ME

It's all about the treasure and the artifact synergy with the second part of the deck. I have several cards that synergize with the treasures that Negan will create. You can find those in my "TREASURE" custom category.

I DON'T APPRECIATE YOU KILLING MY MEN.

Since I am going to be playing one of the most hated cards in all of Magic history, I need to be able to protect him and my other key creatures. I am also thinking about running a few pillow-fort style cards in this category in order to deter people from attacking me, but I want to see how my LGS reacts to Negan before I start adding them. I AIN'T NO HERO

Since I will most likely be the target of everyone's hate, I need to be able to end the game quickly and without warning. If there are blue players, I have a few cards that can't be counter or win the game instantly. I can just target the blue players with my 'can't be counter' bombs and then the rest of the table. You can find my winning cards under my "NAPALM" custom category.

DON'T MAKE ME GET LUCILLE

I run several draw spells. I try to run cheap draw spells that draw me multiple cards or that will constantly get me cards. Ask for my tutors, I run tutors that get cards directly to my hand to avoid mills. You can see my selections under my custom category "DRAW".

MY MANA

I normally run 8 ramp spells, but because I rely heavily on treasure tokens, I cut back to just 5. I run the cheap 2 drop ramp artifacts. I always run 38 lands, I just find this to be a good number. When I drop more money into the deck, I plan on upgrading the mana base with better lands. You can find my cards under my custom categories of "RAMP" and "LAND". IF someone can argue why I should run less lands, I am all ears.
