Commander / EDH Midrange Mono-White Multiplayer Stoneblade Tokens

Maybeboard

There are no combos here folks, just pure, silly mid-range EDH goodness.

Since mono-white is so awful at drawing cards, we attempt to leverage the only card advantage producing effect white is good at -- repeatedly wiping the board with permanents in play that produce incremental value. Examples of this include Nahiri, Land Tax, Oath of Lieges, Cathar's Crusade, Gideon, both Elspeths, and our equipment cards. Humility is notably powerful here.

Notable exclusions: Kemba, Sram, Sigarda's Aid and Puresteel Paladin . These cards are all traps. The deck doesn't run enough equipment for these to be great. White is starved for card draw as it is, and nothing feels worse than drawing an opening hand full of lands, ramp, no equipment, and either Sram or Puresteel. Kemba doesn't actually create any card advantage, just a small army, which has anti-synergy with our wrath effects. Kemba also begs for low CMC equipment and a large deck density of equipment; we have only a few bigger, splashier equipment here.

Creatures have tremendous anti-synergy with the high volume of board-wipes we run in this deck, so while there are a lot of white hate-bears and utility creatures I'd love to be running, it's really hard to justify adding creatures unless they really have a profound effect on our board state. On the other hand, running creatures so powerful that they become "must-remove" targets -- such as Elesh Norn -- are also risky. In a white mid-range deck we are at a tremendous disadvantage from a perspective of card advantage. As such, we do not want to draw too much attention to ourselves since each of our threats our opponents remove tends to harm us asymmetrically.

Ultimately, while low CMC equipment like Umezawa's Jitte , Godsend , Mask of Memory , and Sword of the Animist were initially attractive inclusions, I found that using Nahiri's +2 to cheat the low equip cost on these just didn't have enough impact. For example, the incremental value of equipping Animist onto a 1/1 token just wasn't useful enough. Ultimately though, I'm not sure and I'm still considering all of these.

Other removal spells I considered but ended up cutting are Kirtar's Wrath , Entrapment Maneuver , and Oblation . Kirtar's seemed nice since making tokens is a sub-theme of this deck, but requiring threshold just made it too situational. Oblation is nice, and tucking one of our tokens is cute, but more often than not the card just feels "meh." Entrapment Maneuver is decent but often felt sub-par. If the opponent attacks with multiple creatures then obviously the worst one will be sacrificed; it's only good when we're being attacked by one large creature.

Maybeboard = cards that require testing (or cards that should be included, but are expensive).
