This deck is my baby. It's my favorite deck by far. It's designed to be fun and casual for play against other mid-tier decks. I've put a significant amount of effort into making sure the deck is not too powerful and suitable for playing in a casual setting, usually at my LGS.

It started as pure mutate tribal and due to low cost and cool art, i made the decision to get every possible card in the showcase Ikoria art. This started growing into more alternate arts and eventually secret lairs when I saw the Party Hard, Shred Harder SLD. I loved the SLD art, buying it without any real plans to use the cards. I then realised my 5 color mutate deck was teh perfect home for these cards. Since then, I have been buying SLDs and trying to slowly change every non-essential card in this deck to SLD cards or other special art variants. This list will be updated as I acquire new secret lair drops.

Mechanically, the deck aims to mutate a single creature as many times as possible. Since the mutate mechanic contains a wide variety of effects, the deck has a huge amount of utility, giving the value of repeated mutate triggers. For example, Gemrazer can be triggered many times turning one card into the removal of several others while being highly mana efficient.

Obviously the mutated creature needs to be protected to enure it can continue to mutate. This is why the deck runs a bunch of creatures like Fleecemane Lion, Thrun, the Last Troll, Elusive Tormentor   and more. Additionally Asceticism, and Slippery Bogbonder provide more ways of protecting the mutate pile.

Surgeon General Commander provides consistent draw, ensuring the mutating creature can continue to get bigger and badder. There are also several other draw engines such as Dreamtail Heron, Cloudpiercer, and even recursion effects like Lore Drakkis or Boneyard Lurker that provide additional card advantage.

The deck is slow to start, but easily become unstoppable in the late game if not dealt with early on. This slow start is what balances this deck and maintains a reasonable power level.

There's no single big win condition in the deck, the deck simply aims to win through the immense value of having 10 creatures mutated onto something that's also hexproof and indestructible. Add Snapdax, Apex of the Hunt, and our mutated monstrosity can easily swing in for 20+ damage a turn while also controlling the board with things like the aforementioned Gemrazer, Dirge Bat, Sawtusk Demolisher, and more. It's also hilarious to have a Lore Drakkis in the mutate pile with something like Decimate, or a likewise repeatable Wrath of God while the mutating creature is indestructible.
