Hi there, my name is MrCuddlefish! And this is my first ever competitive modern deck! Based on a build by Safforn Olive named Artifact Blast, this black red buget deck is cheap and effective! Using cheap creatures and artifact synergies we try and aggresively attack and burn our opponents for a quick win!

Gameplay Notes

• Turn 4 is the fastest the deck usually wins, this is a bit tricky to overcome and due to the prevelance of other faster decks such as infect this can be a concern. ( Angrath's Rampage is in the sideboard for the infect matchup.)
• Inkmoth Nexus should almost always be played first so it can be used as an attacker as early as possible. (Playing a mountain for red mana can be important as well however.)
• Leave red mana availible whenever you have Bomat Courier with cards exiled underneath it if able. But sometimes its better just let it die if you have plenty of good cards in hand.
• Not having red mana sometimes causes a game loss.
• Blood Crypt and other black mana sources allows for Cranial Plating to be attached at instant speed, this notably can defeat Ensnaring Bridge in some cases.
• Playing Springleaf Drum followed by a 0 mana creature is very valuable, do try to avoid replacing 0 mana creatures when sideboarding if you need more explosive starts.
• Deck does poorly against Ghostly Prison and Ensnaring Bridge , but burn spells are still an okay win condition if your opponent is slow or doesn't have counterspells.
• Can outrace infect sometimes but has few tools to interact favorably versus the infect creatures.
• Deck struggles to handle planeswalkers well, need to find efficent answers or try to outrace. (Angrath's Ramapage is in the sideboard for this reason.)
• Need to pesonally practice more and develop more tactics for playing against high interaction decks.
• Blast Zone, Ratchet Bomb and Engineered Explosives ruin our deck, Pia's Revolution and Scrapheap Scrounger are invaluable against those cards.
• Force of Vigor can do a lot of damage, and it even removes our enchantments. Cards such as Abrupt Decay and Assassin's Trophy can also get rid of our enchantments which is bad news.
• Board Wipes do a lot of damage to us.

Deck Notes

• Maybe add Steel Overseer ?
• Wondering if Hex Parasite has any value in the deck.
• Blinkmoth Nexus and Smuggler's Copter make for a good team! (In testing the deck has too many zero power creatures to effciently use the vehicle properly, often ending in sluggish games that end in a loss.)
• Chalice of the Void is a very serious threat. Must consider good sideboard cards against it. ( Ratchet Bomb ?)
• Add Arcbound Ravager and Arcbound Worker ?
