Ten of us drafted 30 packs from different sets with only about seven packs repeating sets. The sets went back to M12 and up to M19. The packs themselves were snake drafted. I was second to last in the snake draft order and wound up with KTK, XLN, and GTC. I opened KTK first and got a Bloodsoaked Champion, which is an obnoxious card if you build an aggressive deck around it. I thought that that was a reasonable thing to attempt in such a low-synergy draft, and it would be niche enough that I see little competition for the cards I'd be interested in picking highly. After feeling around in white as a second color, a Harnessed Lightning took me down the path of a mainly Rakdos build, with a splash of white for Imperial Aerosaur and Warleader's Helix. I was able to finish second, losing my final match in about ten minutes due to mana issues both games. My final record was 2-1 (4-2-0).

Four of the original ten players dropped within the first two rounds. A lot of people seemed to struggle with this sort of draft. I think these chaos drafts tend to really emphasize draft basics and a good understanding of what modern Magic design consistently tries to accomplish despite variations across sets. Even in sets where aggro is weak, for example, they will still print aggro cards out of lip service to the aggro-midrange-control dynamic, and that's the sort of thing I fall back on and draft around in these sorts of drafts.
