SideBoard Tweaks —Oct. 7, 2019

Generalized the sideboard a little bit for how diverse the comp meta is, added one force of virtue for the times where you need to go to plan b beatdown mode

Vizier of Remedies ? Also, I'd imagine Brave the Elements would be pretty strong here in response to opponent's removal spells.

If you try W/B, Geralf's Messenger is a pretty solid sac outlet, though he doesn't work with Anafenza or the Vizier. There's also Viscera Seer and Carrion Feeder as sac engines, though neither are as efficient as the Altar you're already running.

I should mention, regarding W/B, that while Viscera Seer won't win you the game like the Altar will, it can infinitely scry, so you can always have a wincon top-decked.

i'm not a fan of vizier over solemnity because solemnity combos with unlife, and more people have creature removal than enchantment removal.

I'm more a fan of gods willing than brave because you get the scry, protecting one creature is enough.

Ah, but you have 4 Legendary creatures at the same CMC as Vizier, so I don't really get how Anafenza is better than Vizier. Because you can't have multiple copies of Anafenza in play, it seems like that card makes it easier to disrupt your combo.

I also don't see how protecting one creature is better than protecting all of them, especially considering you will often need 2 creatures to execute the combo. That said, among the various protect-a-single-creature spells, I think Faith's Shield is better than Gods Willing because the Shield can protect things like Solemnnity, Phyrexian Unlife, heck even a land. And if you are down to 5 or less life, say against a burn deck, it can protect everything, including yourself, which is pretty amazing for 1. The other card worth mentioning is Apostle's Blessing , as it's the only one that can protect against artifacts. But I hate the extra cost.

Perhaps this is just a personal taste thing, but I also think your deck name could be better. Say, something like, "Self Persistance" or "Forget to Die." While the current title is very clear, it lacks a certain ring/allure.

I mean that's fair, might be worth a try, yeah. I did forget apostles blessing existed, tbh, so thanks for that.

I used to do that for all my decks, but now that I go to big comp rel events very regularly I've started to shy away from it, just in case there's a decklist issue with a judge. I know logically it doesn't make a difference, but it helps my anxiety
