Modern Yawgmoth, What it truly should be...

Modern* BG (Golgari) BGW (Abzan, Junk) Combo Midrange

Sideboard

I have been working on this deck ever since Yawgmoth, Thran Physician came out in Modern Horizons, This final Decklist evolved from a Sultai Decklist, which used Neoform and Opt, but sadly that was too inconsistent and pulled more towards a combo deck. Which I believe this to be a Midrange deck. Neoform would put a +1/+1 counter on the creature coming out, and although that wasn't too bad. But sometimes I would have to Neoform Young Wolf into a Strangleroot Geist, so I could then Eldritch Evolution it into a Yawgmoth. But with the +1/+1 counter on it I couldn't. Although there is some cause that Neoform is good in the deck, I have decided to go to a more controly and stabalized Yawgmoth Deck. Basically Midrange. But not at the same time. Now lets break down the deck.

For those who don't know, Yawgmoth, Thran Physician + 2 Undying Creatures, or 1 undying creature and Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons creates an Infinite combo. We sac the undying putting a -1/-1 on anything, Hapatra creates the snake, we then sac the snake to put a -1/-1 on the wolf, creating a snake. Rinse and Repeat (We can then Target the Snakes). Now Yawgmoth will drain us for 1 damage, and draw a card. So we have to be careful. But with a Blood Artist or Obelisk Spider to stabalize from the 1 damage each time.

The rest of the deck is either draw speed or Removal. Inquisition of Kozilek and Abrubt decay to remove what we need in the early game, which sets up the late game. I think Thoughtseize is overrated because so what if it can hit anything. Whipe out the early game, no late game, ie 3 cmc or less from Inquisition of Kozilek. The Draw is Dark Confidant, Yawgmoth, and the 4 Horizon Lands.

Sadly, as we all knew it to come, Once Upon a Time has been banned in modern. I could forsee this but whished it wouldn't happen. Haven take the past few weeks/months to find a valuble replacement I could not. I do not like Chord, which is used in the other Yawgmoth decks, so I decided to wait for Ikoria. I thought, surely Ikoria will have a tutor won't it? low and behold it came with Fiend Artisan. I have already playtested in the past few days and find it a reasonable fit. Synergizes well and we do get creatures in our graveyard. So I think waiting was a good option. Now I think 4 is a good number, but I might tone that down to 3 if I seem it becoming not that valuable. But I don't see that happening.

Leave your thoughts and ideas in the Description! P.S. the Sideboard is just for me, but feel free to take ideas from it, because it all depends on your Playgroup or LGS!
