1.4: X, then X again —Sept. 19, 2018

Swapping around some things. My opinion is that when you're storming off, you win conditions are sort of arbitrary, which means two things: it's alright to cut win conditions, and it's important to have cards be good when you aren't storming off. So, trying to improve the utility a bit.

-Psychosis Crawler - reasonable, but I don't actually draw that many cards while storming off - a lot of things get cast from exile, and I don't have any way to shuffle my graveyard back in.

-Sphinx-Bone Wand - a solid win condition, but 7 mana is a lot.

-Melek, Izzet Paragon - one of this deck's strengths is that it is largely immune to creature removal. Melek is pretty expensive, and there are a lot of situational cards, so playing off the top isn't always feasible.

-Spell Burst - cute card with Mizzix out (since you can counter everything forever), but I very rarely play out Mizzix unless I'm about to go off - the tempo loss if she gets killed is pretty brutal.

-Reforge the Soul - the deck puts a lot of emphasis on hand sculpting, so wheels are pretty awkward. Potentially drawing opponents into interaction is also bad.

-Wild Ricochet - good when it redirects a spell away from your stuff, but this deck is pretty permanent-light, so that is rare.

-Brainstorm - not enough shuffle effects.

-Temple of the False God, Terrain Generator, 2 Mountain, Island - cutting some of the more marginal lands. This deck doesn't have particularly great mana. It can function passably without red, but it doesn't actually want to.

+Bonus Round - seems powerful. One turn of this ought to be enough.

+Sentinel Tower - a pain to track, but it's a lot more efficient than Spinx-Bone Wand - 4 mana is cheap for a win condition. Hilariously, it also triggers off anyone casting spells during my turn, which I'll have to remember.

+Gitaxian Probe - information and a free cantrip. Most importantly, lets me get the first experience from Mizzix immediately.

+Mental Note - testing. I think I want more cantrips, and the incidental mill ought to be useful, given the flashback / recursion / delve stuff I have.

+Ponder - as above, I think I want more cantrips.

+Reverberate - testing. Copying stuff is fun, and this is a more efficient way to do so. Possible that Doublecast would be better, and Twincast likely would too, but meh.

+Apex of Power - testing. Expensive, but a free draw 7 (or mana positive, with reductions) seems good. Not as good when cast from exile, but still not bad.

+Shivan Reef, Wandering Fumarole, Temple of Epiphany - more duals are good.

+Reliquary Tower - adding back. This deck tends to play draw-go a lot while it prepares to go off, so having a bit more of a buffer before needing to discard to hand size isn't irrelevant.

+Myriad Landscape - the primary limiting factor for how early this deck can go off is often how many lands it has, which makes this effect particularly valuable.

edit: -Apex of Power, +Young Pyromancer - Apex proved to be a bit too troublesome, and I've been wanting to lower my curve anyway - if I have Mizzix online, Apex is totally win-more. On the other hand, testing YP - people often attack me due to lacking blockers, so being able to make some tokens to chump with isn't irrelevant.

You should look into getting some of the cheaper color fixing lands such as Shivan Reef and Temple of Epiphany. Both were reprinted in the last duel deck.

As for lands that will help your collection you can invest in City of Brass, Mana Confluence, Ash Barrens, Boseiju, Who Shelters All, Cascade Bluffs, Maze of Ith, Myriad Landscape, Reflecting Pool, Riptide Laboratory, and Tarnished Citadel

Thanks for the suggestions! Didn't notice how cheap painlands and temples currently are - I should probably look into them for a lot of my decks.

For this deck, I haven't actually had that many issues with the budget manabase, largely because the deck is skewed so heavily towards blue. High Tide makes me want to run as many islands as possible, but it would be nice to be able to cut a few mountains.
