NOTE: This has been tuned to play with my meta in my playgroup. Most counter cards I have like Submerge are totally useless for their zero cost ability because of opponents not having Forest.

Currently Fine Tuning Niv-Mizzet Budget Competitive Deck. Proxying the following cards until I can afford them since I have bills and all that grown up stuff:

Ancient Tomb, Chrome Mox, Mox Diamond, Mox Opal, Wheel of Fortune, Force of Negation, Force of Will, Trickbind, Winds of Change, Rolling Earthquake, Pongify, Mana Crypt.

The Cards are currently not accurately displaying what set they are from, which may affect overall price of deck, so please keep this in mind. I will update the set belongings of each card at a later time.

Updates 7/17/2019 Due to some comments, I am aware I need to add, Mystic Remora , but still debating what cards to swap that in for. Will work on improving mana rocks and land base in future whenever I can expand how much I want to spend on this deck.

7/22/2019 Will be adding Disallow, Leaning towards Stream of Thought since it can be tutored for easily than Psychic Spiral . Also, added Commit / Memory to allow for the shuffling of graveyard to library in case things go bad and combo pieces are stuck there. As of now I have very little to do when combo pieces get exiled by opponents affects. But that is what counters are for if you have them.

7/23/2019 Added Star Compass and Sky Diamond for more synergy with isorev combo. Took out Aetherflux, Aether, and the 3 lands that ping you for 1 cause no point in hurting yourself when all people wanna do is smash your face, also plus Blood Moon. Will look into adding Trickbind and Goblin Electromancer . Swapped out Spell Pierce for Goblin Electromancer. Then decided to swap out red elemental blast to side board and swap in damping sphere instead for more STAX effects. Also, my playgroup does not run a lot of blue in any deck, and if they do it would be 3 colored anyways. Having it in sideboard is better, then I will just swap it in for more competitive playgroups.

Update 8/05/2019 Added few cards. Will be updating this whole text box at a later date, too lazy now to get on computer to spend an hour typing it out as I am pretty busy.

Win Conditions and Infinite Combos:

I have created a few win conditions for this version with several combos around it. Having Niv-Mizzet, Parun on the field attached with Curiosity , Ophidian Eye , or soul bound with Tandem Lookout (Careful as this card does not allow for the may draw effect and you will have to deck yourself, but thats ok since we have backup plans.)

Now just that combo enough is able to knock out 2 opponents off the field before turn 12. 99 in Library - 7 Card hand - 80 cards needed to do damage to finish 2 players assuming they have max total life of 40. That gives you 12 or less turns to combo off this way.

Alternative ways to win involve the same method, but including Jace, Wielder of Mysteries (Note: did not include Laboratory Maniac for redundancy because creatures have higher removal spells for them than planeswalkers) under your control. Easy win, deck yourself with either infinite mana and Blue Sun's Zenith , or the Nivosity Combo.

Another major combo, is the isorev combo with Dramatic Reversal and Isochron Scepter . For this combo to properly generate infinite mana we need to be able to generate at least 2 mana and 1 additional of preferably a colored source. Mox Amber Talisman of Creativity (Careful to dying from its shock damage) Izzet Signet Fellwar Stone Fire Diamond or Commander's Sphere .

The tutors available are: Merchant Scroll Mystical Tutor Dizzy Spell Long-Term Plans Muddle the Mixture Fabricate Gamble Spellseeker Tribute Mage

The rest of the deck holds cards to prevent opponents from gaining huge leads and spells to counter and draw and protect you.

Key Stax cards here are Cursed Totem and Grafdigger's Cage (This is a lifesaver against infinite combos recurring from graveyards and the like.) Back to Basics and Blood Moon .

  1. Niv-Mizzet, Parun + Curiosity (or Ophidian Eye soul bounded Tandem Lookout ) will kill 2 opponents at 40 or less life before turn 12.
  2. Niv-Mizzet, Parun + Curiosity (or Ophidian Eye soul bounded Tandem Lookout ) + Jace, Wielder of Mysteries deck yourself till you win. Easy.
  3. Jace, Wielder of Mysteries + Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal + Any combination of mana to produce at least 3 mana ( 2 of anything to pay Iso cost, and 1 colored at least) + Blue Sun's Zenith for instant mill and win.
  4. Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal + Any combination of mana to produce at least 3 mana ( 2 of anything to pay Iso cost, and 1 colored at least) + Expansion / Explosion ( Can kill 2 players at once, one by milling them to death, other by pure infinite damage, or target yourself for the mill if you have Jace up. 3 options when targeting with this card)
