just noticed Dragonspeaker Shaman in the list my mistake

Thanks DarkHero! Suggestions/Ideas are always greatly appreciated. I should try Two-Headed Dragon out. I like his evasion + double block ability...And that art, badass. Perhaps I could swap out Flameblast Dragon and see how that goes.

I had Quicksilver Amulet in here previously and ultimately decided that I didn't need it. Between the ramp and Belbe's Portal I'm usually ok without further methods of cheating dragons in. The same logic applies to Elvish Piper. Both of those cards work miracles in my green rampy/stompy deck though.

Lastly, Dragon Arch. I like that it fits flavour and theme-wise, but I only have 5 multicoloured creatures in the deck, including Atarka who is usually not in my hand. I suspect it would be a dormant card on the table most games.

Thunderbreak Regent makes an opponent kinda worry about targeting any of your cute flying lizards

I do like Thunderbreak Regent, I'm just not sure what I'd cut to make room for him. His ability is a little underwhelming but still, his stats for a 4 drop are pretty sweet. Thanks synonimous_.

Sword of feast and famine could be nice? Especially with double strike, your agg assault and hellkite charger would appreciate the unlimated combos too, plus you could even put another creature out once your mana becomes untapped and thwy would discard two cards instead of one if im not mistaken

For sure TheMaggotPrince, good call. I've been toying with the idea of adding Sword of Feast and Famine and/or Bear Umbra for a while now, I'm going to play test both. On top of the crazy mana advantage, I like the additional protection the umbra provides (totem armor). As for the sword, yes the discard would trigger twice with doublestrike which would be a rude little added bonus.

October 18, 2015 12:58 p.m.

Both would be beautiful additions to this deck lol! XD yea i always miss my discard trigger because i get so carried away with my endless combats

October 18, 2015 8:22 p.m.

So i think just about all the swords would be stupid good in this deck..happened to think about it after i used both of mine with double strike...combos can be insane..just a thought, feast and famine is still my favorite for it though

Agreed, all of the swords would be awesome...Except I'd be aiming for more of a voltron style instead. Perhaps 1 or 2 of the clutch swords could have a place in this deck though. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts as to what to remove in order to pave the way for dual wielding sword Atarka action.

Hmm...perhaps Earthquake, In the Web of War, or the Swiftfoot Boots some of it just seems like too much to pay for haste when there are several cheaper options, i find i dont need more than Fervor, Hall of the Bandit Lord, Lightning Greaves, and Dragon Tempest..any more haste just gets in the way of me drawing other things i can use to end the game.. Earthquake just seems bleh to me but then again i run black and white and tend to dislike red removal lol!! Its late so i apologize if my ideas are dumb atm XD

Hey, no problem sir. I appreciate the discussion. You're right I run a lot of haste effects in here. Enablers like Xenagos, God of Revels, Lightning Greaves + Swiftfoot Boots, Sarkhan Vol + 3 chants (Dragon Tempest, Fires of Yavimaya & In the Web of War). A fifth of my creature base has haste built in. It seems like overkill right?

It's not. The name of the Gruul game in general is a swift, decisive beat down. All of the cards I've listed above have added utility as well (shroud, hexproof, pump etc). I would have a difficult time cutting any of them.

As for janky Earthquake, most of the time it's a one-sided wipe thanks to all of my flying lizards. Not MTG's finest wipe spell or anything but it certainly serves its purpose here.

On the topic of Earthquake, I like it so much in my Atarka deck I've recently started running Fault Line which trades a damage for instant speed.

Fault Line hey? I like it!

October 26, 2015 7:41 p.m.

Oh for sure, most everything in this deck seems like it's very smoothe, just gave some options i might would pick from..i would love to fight this deck xD

I'd consider putting in Xenagos, the Reveler. The mana ramp he provides is very significant.

Forkbeard says... #17

Thanks davester00123. I've certainly considered Xenagos, the Reveler, my only beefs are the conditional requirement (need creatures on the board, ideally I would have creatures on the board but you never know) and the +0 ability is...Just OK. Still, I might give him a whirl and see how it works out.

Hey! This deck is great! i found using Wurmweaver Coil insane. If the creature is about to die somehow, sac the enchant and get a wurm. :P

A quick question Forkbeard: How's Domri Rade working out?

I run Rith over at Smashface Gardening w/ Rith (EDH Dragons) and I've been going back and forth about adding Domri. I don't have a ton of creatures either (I have 28), and Planeswalkers get enough hate in my group that I'm sure I'd never see his ultimate. Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

Nice deck +1 :)
I have a R/G deck with dragons and Xenagos as the commander, would appreciate if you can check it out and suggest\comment on it.

I went with Xenagos as he gives haste and doubles the attack it is not a double strike but with trample sweet.

I also use cards that gives an additional battle face which triggers Xenagos ability again.

Xenagos Savageborn EDH this is my deck.

what I can suggest to you is Garruk, Caller of Beasts to get more creatures and put the green you have.

Thanks for the kind comments and suggestions guys, awesome feedback.

willisrillycoolsodie - I hadn't thought of Wurmweaver Coil in here...Interesting. I definitely like the effect, but the casting cost coupled with the green creature restriction makes me a little hesitant. I can certainly see the value if you're able to let this sucker stick on Atarka.

clayperce - So far so good with Domri Rade sir. I replaced Hoarding Dragon & have no regrets, I definitely recommend him. Sure, you're rarely going to blast off the ult, but his +1 is decent card advantage (bonus points if you have Sensei's Divining Top out for top-deck manipulation) and his -2 can be helpful removal in a pinch. Also, he's cheap to cast. Long story short, he's a value engine and I think he'd be awesome in your deck (which looks fun by the way, I +1'd). Add him!

NiTRoBoX - Garruk, Caller of Beasts is a cool idea. His -3 may be a little difficult to justify given that I'm only running 5 green creatures (excluding Atarka because she wouldn't normally be sitting in my hand) but the thought of slapping down Dragonlord Atarka for free is pretty appealing. His other abilities are amazing...I may just have to try him out. I'll have a peek at your Xenagod deck when I have more time, have a preemptive upboat anyway!

So I had a fun thought! Triumph of the Hordes

November 16, 2015 9:28 p.m.

Forkbeard says... #23

That could be an evil little addition Casey4321. Doublestrike + infect trample...Prettaaaaaaay gross. I'm going to try it in place of Overwhelming Stampede for a few games and see how it goes.

What about dragonstorm

November 25, 2015 11:58 p.m.

Forkbeard says... #25

Dragonstorm is absolutely awesome theme-wise, but the casting cost is simply too much. With access to cheaper, better green tutors I find that I just don't need it in here.
