feeling that my B/G/x heavy meta needed correction, I felt that the best way to do so was to make life difficult by hating on targeted removal and hand disruption. Unsettled Mariner is an underrated gem.

Round 1 Win 2-1 Vs. Grixis Death's Shadow (Win Roll) Merfolk has a decent match up here. But Temur Battlerage is a hell of a card. Thankfully, in my two winning games, my op. wasn't able to rip my hand and field apart with interaction and tried to race with Zombie Fish and Shadows. It didn't work out Round 2 Win: 2-1 Vs. R/B Vial Goblins (Win Roll) If Goblins sticks a vial on turn 1 you're in a lot of trouble. This version of the deck is the real deal. In my loss, my opponent had 18 goblins on board, which he attacked with and then sent hurling to their doom--and my dome--with Sling-Gang Lt. But Meddling Mage kept me safe, while Unsettled Mariner and Kira were able to keep my creatures protected in games 2 and 3. With additionally help from the Sea Goddess, I was able mana screw my opponent a bit with Spreading Seas. Round 3 Win 2-0 Vs. Storm (Lose roll) Unsettled Mariner put my opponent on the Goblin Warrens plan, Fish made short work of Storm in games 1 and 2. Round 4 Win 2-0 Vs. Jund (Win Roll) My Jund opponent is one of the best players in the shop, and with some luck and Mariner's help I was able to land three lords and just go to town in game 1. The winning play was when my opponent targeted me and a Mariner with a K-Command, not realizing it causes two triggers of Mariner's ability. Game 2 Kira held the board long enough for me to stick 3 Lords. I drew well, my opponent didn't dispite having W&6 and a Horizon land to draw several extra cards.
Round 5 Win 2-0 Vs. Esper Polymorph Tokens (Lose Roll) Force of Negation made quick work of this deck. But he did surprise me with an Emrakul on turn 5---Thankfully, U/W/B doesn't do hasty Spaghetti Monsters. Round 6 Win 2-1 Vs. Burn (Win Roll) I feel really strong in this match up. Unsettled Mariner proves that he's the hero we need, but no the one most players want. In games where I have him, I clean up. In the game I don't--I lose. Thankfully, the London mulligan is pretty sweet.

I wasn't driving so we went next door and I preceded to put my debit card to work on the Tito's special and some exotic shrimp...Good times.
