Further Tweaking and Cutting Bitter Ordeal —March 4, 2019
RIP Bitter Ordeal. It is a lovely card I will keep forever, but it's a dead card in 99% of games. I just win with Izoni tokens anymore, and mostly I don't even have to do that. People just scoop after a certain point.
IN
- Adventurous Impulse - good early filtering for lands or relevant creatures and decent late game to pseudo-Brainstorm
- Grapple with the Past - very excellent at any stage of the game; it's an instant speed Regrowth effectively that has the bonus of milling over three cards first
- Grisly Salvage - it's Satyr Wayfinder but on an instant
- Liliana, Heretical Healer Flip - this is essentially a craeture that flips into a better Liliana of the Veil; insanely good if it sticks around
- Noxious Revival - instant speed free graveyard protection or pseudo-Regrowth
- Silhana Wayfinder - ah it's a slightly worse Satyr Wayfinder; still good at filtering lands early or finding creatures later
- Vivien Reid - a great value engine; finds lands, creatures, or acts as removal
- Yahenni, Undying Partisan - just a cheaper free sacrifice outlet that can sometimes steal games
OUT
- Bitter Ordeal - a lovely card, multifaceted, and eloquent; however, it's just unnecessary
- Bontu's Last Reckoning - wow who let me sleeve up this garbage, seriously
- Deathrite Shaman - a fine mana dork, but I hate mana dorks in this deck
- Glowspore Shaman - the fact that this puts the land on top of the deck instead of into my hand is what killed it for me
- Kraul Foragers - Savra does all the work I need
- Phyrexian Plaguelord - a fine card, good at sniping the occasional creature, but it's too heavily costed
- Razaketh, the Foulblooded - now you might ask why I would cut such a seemingly powerful card on paper; the answer is that in practice, he's win-more 99% of the time
- Vampire Hexmage - a card specifically to hate planeswalkers is nice, but mostly irrelevant
