Looking to tweak —Nov. 30, 2017

The things I'm now thinking about and looking to include in the deck in some manner are twofold. I want to try and include a Ghost Quarter in my land base, and I want to find a card to replace Big Game Hunter. The solution my be going up to 23 lands and replacing one with the other, but I never seem to have land trouble so I'm hesitant to increase the base.

Anyone know of anything from Hour of Devastation I might have accidentally missed?

Great Creature Toolbox deck! Have you considered Duskwatch Recruiter  Flip or Scavenging Ooze? I love the deck have always thought that Glittering Wish deserved to be built around.

If you have a moment I would love some help with my planeswalkerless Abzan build: Abzan Beatdown. Good luck at the tables!

Hey, JoshFox, thanks for the feedback! Yes, I most definitely have considered the two of those creatures. Duskwatch Recruiter  Flip is a decent idea, but it doesn't follow through. All it can do is net you cards to your hand, not any ability to play them. That's why I went with Rhonas the Indomitable as my finisher. He can just win the game the moment he comes into play, with the whole Devoted Druid combo. And Scavenging Ooze is decent, but costs mana. Bojuka Bog is my free, devastating gy hate.

Vizier + Druid + Duskwatch = Infinite Mana + Infinite Scry. Pull out the Walking Ballista. End of game. This happened to me off of CoCo. I just now stopped crying.

Okay, let's say you get Coco first and then walking ballista. Now your ballista's dead. Rhonas works even without the combo. And I don't need any more infinite sry, the first combo I'm trying to hit is the infinite scry/infinite life/ infinite damage combo. The whole infinite mana thing is just a cute backup

SlappyBob you are probably right. I don't play combo. I just loose to them. And that was one of my losses. I've got him down to 5 life and I'm dominating the board. All he has is Devoted Druid. I've got Drown in Sorrow in hand. I'm waiting for one more combo piece to drop before putting the nail in the coffin. He plays Collected Company which plays Vizier of Remedies and Duskwatch Recruiter  Flip. He taps for infinite mana. He scries through the deck. Plays Walking Ballista for infinit power and kills me.

The bottom line is I lost to my own error. With the dominate board state I should have just kept the board clear and won the game the next turn.

But I thought the reach of the Ballista might help you in some circumstances. Perhaps against a Prison deck?

Walking Ballista does what Murderous Redcap does with the original combo. Let's put this another way. Devoted + Vizier is 2 pieces you need on the board to not be dead. Then you say get Recruiter, a third piece to not be dead. Then you say use the Recruiter to net myself a fourth piece, which I also need to not die? This is getting a little out of hand here. Walking Ballista is a super dope card, and I hope finds a home in a deck with infinite mana, without CoCo. Right now I think it basically just shines in Tron. Also I think Duskwatch is a fine idea, just creates too many vulnerable pieces in an already vulnerable combo. And the idea of infinite scry is fine, I would rather just win.

I missed Murderous Redcap. How do you cycle him?

This deck looks fantastic. My only comment would be maybe working a Necrotic Ooze in there for things like pridemage and rhonas abilities? I might be thinking too far into that

Hey, Itsplvnk, thanks for the comment. I think you're over thinking a little, I already have a set of 8 creatures that interact with my opponent enough to ensure that nothing catches me off guard. It's why I don't have the extra mana dorks, i feel like its mlre important to be able to interact and be prepared than it is to rush into something that can just be countered. Also, game 2 should always be a breeze with 4 cards that interact coming out for 4 Leyline of Sanctity, I'll be untouchable.
