Mathas, Fiend Seeker, ''Secret Nekusar''

Commander / EDH Casual Pillow Fort RBW (Mardu) Theme/Gimmick

Phosphene

The name for the deck came from a game I did where I had Gisela, Blade of Goldnight and Howling Mine, Spiteful Visions, Fate Unraveler in play and pinging everyone for 12 each upkeep and people started calling my deck ''Secret Nekusar''.

Our deck is a grindy one, very much so. My table usually doesn't want me to play this deck more than once each night and I understand them. The goal of this deck is to slowly drain our opponents health. The main way we are going to drain our opponents is by making them draw cards. However this deck is much slower than a Nekusar one, which is why we need many a boardwipe to slow the game down.

The choice of our commander is based on his reputation. He is mainly known for the very casual "Curse tribal" theme, and we are using this to our advantage. People rarely focus a Mathas deck, which will give us the time to set our board before our opponents understands the path we are taking.

So, our plan: drain our opponents with card draw while gaining time by keeping the board clean. We therefore included in this deck many a card that synergise with our goal.

Boardwipes Synergies: Vicious Shadows helps us lower our opponents Health Total and also works well with the fact that we keep our opponents hands full. Black Market gives us a ton a mana to dump into our finishers, Debtors' Knell and Grave Betrayal allow us to take the creatures we keep destroying.

Card Draw Synergies: Vicious Shadows (See above), Smothering Tithe Get that mana baby, Underworld Dreams, Spiteful Visions, and Fate Unraveler will damage our opponents whenever they draw, Price of Knowledge will deal tons of damage at each opponents upkeep.

The rest of the deck is interaction, protection and other effects to damage our opponent the make sure that the mana required for our finishers is low enough.

Update: Removed Torment of Hailfire and Debt to the Deathless for Molten Psyche and Khorvath's Fury in order to stay more on theme
