"Machiavellianism in psychology refers to a personality trait which sees a person so focused on their own interests they will manipulate, deceive, and exploit others to achieve their goals."

So, as I would hope is very clear, this is a lands deck. There are many others like it but this one is mine. I would say this is my most successful deck as of late; it has access to a bunch of answers from early on in games and allows for cunning political manoeuvres (where I thrive). The lands are chucked into the 'yard but they don't stay there forever.

This is based loosely on a Leovold, Emmissary of Trest deck I'd built that was designed to gain significant incremental advantage over the course of the game (mainly through Rites of Flourishing effects). What I didn't realise was that Tasigur, the Golden Fang , the new commander for obvious reasons, could go nuts with that plan without being oppressive as heck.

The ideal for this deck is to stack the graveyard early with some powerful tools, Delve out Tasigur fairly early and then get lots of lands on board/in the yard.

There's plenty of cards that work really well with my commander, but none generate more value than Training Grounds , which I wouldn't include if not for it working directly with Tasigur.

Fun Interactions

Include:

Returning Villainous Wealth to my hand 3 times in a game and resolving the spell for 20+ each time I cast it.

Returning 30ish cards to hand with Praetor's Counsel

Casting Increasing Confusion to mill a player for 128.

Cast Tasigur, the Golden Fang on turn 2 with mana spare thanks to Veteran Explorer .

Killing a player with commander damage using Retreat to Hagra and Splendid Reclamation .

Wins

Late in the game, which has ideally been drawn out, I get to use my flashy effects to cheat lands out. Scapeshift , World Shaper , Animist's Awakening and Splendid Reclamation among others.

Wincons at this point (access to 30+ mana) include Sylvan Awakening , Increasing Confusion and the iconic Villainous Wealth

Wins are obtained most easily through Increasing Confusion , because I can cast it from the yard if I milled it. Or cast it normally/use Tasigur to return it.

Updates:

Praetor's Counsel , Seasons Past and Flood of Recollection all do so much Work! Counsel all-but won me the game the last 2 times I played this deck. Even returning lands to hand instead of cheating them out works well coz you're likely to also get Rites of Flourishing or Wayward Swordtooth

Some Spicy Quotes:

"Those wound tightest are the first to unravel."

"The wise always keep an ear open to the whispers of power."

"You've strayed, overworlder."

"The land knows no difference between the graves of commoners and nobles."

"Gold buys death. Death earns gold."
