Companion (creature card), Umori, the Collector: Each nonland card in your starting deck shares the creature card type (if this card is your chosen companion, you may spend 3 mana to place this card from your sideboard into your hand).

Mutate (ability): If you cast this spell for its mutate cost, put it ontop or underneath target non-Human creature you own. They mutate into the creature that is on top and that creature has all the abilities of every card that is underneath it.

Deck:

A creature-only deck that finds ways to cheat big scary monsters onto the battlefield early in the match with the help of your mail-order monsters Auspicious Starrix and Illuna, Apex of Wishes.

Mail-order monsters:

Auspicious Starrix and Illuna, Apex of Wishes put permanents and monsters from your library onto the battlefield whenever they mutate. Low cost mutate creature cards Sea-Dasher Octopus (with flash!) and Gemrazer let you active this devastating effect multiple times in a game.

Monsters:

  • Llanowar Elves (mana ramp)
  • Paradise Druid (conditional hexproof, mana ramp)
  • Hypnotic Sprite (adventure, flying)
  • Sea-Dasher Octopus (flash, conditional card draw, mutate)
  • Bonecrusher Giant (whenever this creature is targeted by a spell, it deals 2 damage to that spell’s controller)
  • Mila, Crafty Companion   (conditional card draw). This card can play as a creature with conditional card draw if it enters the battlefield via one of your your mail-order monsters. When in hand, the intention is to cast it as Lukka, Wayward Bonder  . Being a modal card means this card satisfies companion requirements whilst still giving you the option to cast it as a very powerful creature friendly planeswalker card.
  • Gemrazer (trample, mutate)
  • Ghor-Clan Rampager (trample, bloodrush)
  • Gargos, Vicious Watcher (vigilance, conditional fight). A powerful form of protection once on the battlefield, this 8 power creature fights another creature whenever any creature you control is targeted by a spell. Gargos and it’s many heads gives your opponent a lot to think about whenever they want to target your board state as it will likely affect their own.
  • End-Raze Forerunners (vigilance, trample, haste, ETB effect). Finisher. All creatures gain +2/+2 and gain vigilance and trample until end of turn.

Creature based control/removal:

Adventure, Bloodrush and Mutate mechanics provide the deck with a versatile source of instant speed control, buff effects, damage effects and removal.

  1. : Bonecrusher Giant (adventure: 2 damage to any target, damage can’t be prevented this turn)
  2. : Ghor-Clan Rampager (bloodrush: +4/+4, trample)
  3. : Gemrazer (mutate: artifact/enchantment removal)
  4. : Hypnotic Sprite (adventure: counter target spell with CMC 3 or less)
