Welcome to my rendition of Liesa, Shroud of Dusk 's story as told in EDH.

Please hit the "Upvote" if you enjoy the deck, and show support for the fourth sister Angel of Innistrad.

A thousand years ago on Innistrad, four archangel sisters defended humanity: Sigarda, who protected the living, Bruna, who protected the dead, Gisela, who fought monsters, and Liesa, who consorted with them. Each of the four sisters lead a flight of lesser angels and had the same goal, to defend humanity, but each had her own methods. Of all the sisters, only Liesa sought to understand her enemies and, in so doing, mitigate their evil. With her knowledge, she reasoned the monsters could be fought more effectively and bargained with the foul to do good.

One day, a new angel appeared as if from nowhere: Avacyn. She was inflexible in her righteousness and unstoppable in her power. She did not approve of Liesa's methods, and when Liesa made a pact with a demon lord, Avacyn declared her a heretic and destroyed her, along with her entire flight of angels.

The spear lay in bloodsoaked rubble and broken pews on the floor of Thraben Cathedral; bent and distorted, yet intact and whole under the tarnished silver.

Hope.

It's been thirteen months since Avacyn's unmaking by the hand and hilt of her creator, Sorin. The wilds have grown back and encroached upon civilization. Humans have receeded in to their relative safety of the strongholds and monsters lurk ever closer to their doorsteps. They hear the heartbeats and smell the sweet aroma of pure blooded human nobles and peasants alike.

Yet, in every moment since Avacyn's departure this spear lay untouched among the broken stained glass. The light of the silver moon hasn't shown through these arches since that night, avoiding this place of... impiousness.

Winds begin to howl and dust gets beaten back unceremoniously away from the two pronged spear. Armored feet touch the ground near the spear as if the owner of them believed this ground to still be sacred. Sigarda, holding her scythe in hand, appreciates her lost sister's spear for a moment.

Her eyes begin to glow gold, her scythe radiating brilliance. "I see now the rumors were true sister. Your spear is bent and battered, yet remains unbroken. I have been making ready the ceremony we prepared so long ago."

"Our contingency to resurrect from our unbroken weapons. If only Bruna and Gisela hadn't melded and tainted their weapons and destroyed the protective magic..". Sigarda picking up the spear, beholds it's might one last time before imbuing it with the same glow she was resonating. The spear, thrumming, was then thrust with as much divine might Sigarda could conjure directly above her.

As the spear cleared the canopy and entered the clouds the thrumming would have became unbearable for any mortals nearby, not that there were any. The spear stopped it's descent, hovering in place. It gleamed bright like a star regaining it's untainted, unburdened purpose and form. The form before Avacyn.

Sigarda chanted one final prayer, a plea for the lost once more to be found.

"Welcome back sister. Welcome back Liesa," Sigarda exclaimed.

A hand reached through the light and grasped the shaft of the spear. "Thank you sister," Liesa replied beholding life once more. "There is work to be done."
