Hello Everyone

Welcome to my Restore Balance deck! Here I will give a brief overview of the archetype and synapses on the cards I run and why I run them. Enjoy!

The Restore Balance deck functions much like Living End decks. It's main goal is to keep lands and creatures off the battlefield and wait for a cascaded Restore Balance in order to wipe your opponents field. It utilizes borderposts to keep your lands off the field, and suspended creatures to use once you successfully board-wipe. This decks isn't incredibly competetive, but due to its build, it can be changed and experimented with it as much as its user desires, making it an incredibly fun deck to play.

- Firewild Borderpost: one of the five borderposts that I run in this list. It adds or to your pool, making it one of the more important borderposts in this list, as it allows me to cast one of my combo pieces (Violent Outburst) and also one of my win-cons (Greater Gargadon).

- Wildfield Borderpost: another one of the five kinds of borderposts. It taps for or .

- Fieldmist Borderpost: the other lesser borderpost here, for reasons similar to that of Mistvein Borderpost. Taps for or .

It is also important to note that borderposts are the main source of land bouncing to make sure you maintain an amount that can sustain you while also threatening your opponents with a hard-hitting Restore Balance

Creatures

isnt he cute? - Greater Gargadon: Your most aggressive win-con. The only thing scarier than one of these bad boys coming out of the woodwork after your opponents field was nuked is having two of them. It also functions as an A1 sac outlet for lands and creatures that may be left over from a previous boardwipe.

- Simian Spirit Guide: Even though I use this guy pretty much always for the mana, he can be useful to cast if you are having trouble ending the game. He also can be used as fodder for your Greater Gargadon if you hit a slow point.

Other Spells

me hoping i dont get a land top-deck - Restore Balance: The heart of the combo. Without it, the deck won't exist. The main idea is to cascade into it, but it can also be strategically suspended when you really get a grasp on the deck.

- Violent Outburst: One of the main combo-pieces. It's cascade effect is what gets Restore Balance off the ground and at instant speed, giving you the turn to swing in for possibly lethal.

- Ardent Plea: A great card for this deck, even aside from the cascade. The exalted makes your Greater Gargadon swing in for 10 each turn, essentially putting your opponent on a two-turn clock.

- Detention Sphere: I prefer this over Oblivion Ring mainly because it shuts down a lot of decks that have multiples of one card (i.e affinity, humans, some aggro decks). I am looking to start running two, as I only have one form of control in the mainboard, which leaves me open to all kinds of attacks, especially from burn.

- Kari Zev's Expertise: It allows me to cast Restore Balance from my hand, and can also grab me one of my opponents creatures to use as Greater Gargadon fodder, all at the same time. It's a neat one-of in this deck which offers some interesting gameplay.

Lands

enter image description here Even thought there are literally no special lands in here, I'm gonna talk about the two non-basics that I use.

Terramorphic Expanse/Evolving Wilds: They literally do the same thing, and that is fetch for basics. Good for refining your mana pool early on to avoid issues in the later game.

So with this deck, it really seems to go two ways. One way utilizes more control and toolbox abilities and the other uses some goodstuff creatures and whatnot in order to grant the upperhand. I feel like I could go in either direction from here, as I'm running the most skeletal version possible. I want to discuss some possible additions to the deck that might be interesting, or better yet successful. Input is greatly appreciated in the comments. enter image description here

- Bring to Light: Now this card has been the most greatly considered card in this deck. It fetches for combopieces, control cards, and is even of greater use after sideboarding. However, the doubt with this card is less about whether or not it would work in general, but more about how it would work in this specific build, which frankly I don't think it would. This isn't to say that it wouldn't be a good centerpiece for the combo though. When BTL was first leaked, ChannelFireball went to work making countless decks in which it could be effectively utilized in. One of those was a Restore Balance deck, and immediately caught my interest. Essentially what would happen with this build is I would get rid of the cascade mechanic and the suspend creatures, and run multiple mana dorks and bigger creatures to ramp into. This build seemed a little less consistent, so I would try a borderpost build, and even maybe consider Ghostway to synergize with Restore Balance.

- Obzedat, Ghost Council: An interesting card for this deck, I think. The constant flicker ability essentially keeps him off the field on your opponents turn for a successful instant speed restore balance, but also would act as an incredibly efficient beater. A couple things about him though is that he can potentially interrupt the flow of the deck by restricting me to only using Violent Outburst to cascade, and also his mana cost is incredibly demanding. Nevertheless, he seems like a potentially good card that I will be sure to try out in the mainboard.

Thanks for taking a look at my deck! I've been looking at some other builds and seeing what other people got cooking, and I have to say that every deck is a little different. It seems that this deck can go two different ways. The first relies more on creature flooding without the use of March of the Machines and the other seems to focus making March of the Machines the main win-con, using cards like Idyllic Tutor in order to guarantee pulling it. I will zero in on which version I want to go for once I gain more experience with this deck. Until then, Shuffle On!
