Yes Hello, it is Lazav.

Good times.

So here we have Lazav, in all of his shape-shifting glory. I don't play Dimir really, so this was a really unique project. There was just something about him that drew me in ( Phyrexian Dreadnought ), can't really say what though.

Really, there are 3 ways to win in the deck. Those are through combat with any unblockable homie and Phyrexian Dreadnought + Vector Asp or just Phage the Untouchable , a Necrotic Ooze combo using Grimgrin, Corpse-Born + Bloodline Keeper   + Walking Ballista , and with Laboratory Maniac using either Mesmeric Orb + Basalt Monolith or Demonic Consultation to clear the library.

STRATS

The play is to get Lazav on board and start turning him into our win conditions asap.

We only use smaller or targeted ways to fill the graveyard. Things like Traumatize are just too slow and clunky for what we are doing. Overall I'd say it is better to be able to do a few minor things during the turn rather than one big expensive one that could be accomplishing the same goal.

We run 11 Counterspells in the deck. It is very important to protect Lazav once he is out. As a 1/3 he isn't usually in immediate danger from other creatures but he is definitely a target if people know how integral he is to our win conditions. We use his ability to become the things in the graveyard that allow us to win; without him, it is much harder to get there.
