Someone made one of my favorite light novels' main characters into an alternate artwork for Ayula, Queen Among Bears , so I had to make a deck...

kuma_kuma_kuma_bear

It's not meant to be a very powerful deck; I just wanted to see how far I could get with Ayula, Queen Among Bears .

Most of the deck's strategy revolves around fighting opponents' creatures to death with bears; death by bears. Bears bears bears!

Copied bears!

We want as many bears as possible. Bramble Sovereign , Helm of the Host and Lithoform Engine let us copy bears.

Repeatable bears!

Maskwood Nexus and Birthing Boughs make wannabe bears.

Token bears!

Lands are inferior to bears and luckily Ayula's Influence lets us make that profitable trade. Make some more bears with Grizzly Fate and Flaxen Intruder

Bears from the grave!

Well, not quite, but Heirloom Blade will provide successors for your precious bears.

Bears truly are the most fearsome animals in the kingdom. Ayula, Queen Among Bears can beef up a simple Ashcoat Bear and then have it fight opponents' creatures to death. If the fighting creature has lifelink then there's a lot of life to be gained... And hence why Batterskull , Shadowspear and Basilisk Collar are in the deck. Basilisk Collar is especially notable as it can allow a 2/2 bear token to take down a Serra Angel .

That's right - we don't need flying blockers when we can swipe fliers out of the sky with sharp bear claws.

Ulvenwald Tracker lets the fighting continue even without Ayula.

If Vigor hits the board, well, Ayula, Queen Among Bears can do both her abilities at once - having a bear fight will simultaneously take out an opponent's threat AND grow a bear.

If you have enough ability-less bears and bear tokens on the board to swing for lethal, try to sneak Ruxa, Patient Professor into play. Green Sun's Zenith , Finale of Devastation , Chord of Calling and Hibernation's End all let us tutor out Ruxa, Patient Professor .

Shapeshifter cards like Bloodline Pretender count as bears even when not in play - hence their inclusion in this deck.

Generally, you'll want to get Rishkar, Peema Renegade to ramp, Bramble Sovereign to copy bears or Armorcraft Judge to draw tons of cards.

Hibernation's End , Green Sun's Zenith and Finale of Devastation help tutor the right card for the right situation.

Slap a lifelink equipment like Basilisk Collar on a bear and stay alive while fighting opponents' creatures to death.

If you happen to draw Tempt with Discovery , you'll want Gaea's Cradle , Field of the Dead and Reliquary Tower .

When there are plenty of ability-less bears on the board (tokens and meme cards), Ruxa, Patient Professor can sneak an unexpected attack through opponents' defenses.

After making this deck, I've decided to swap out a few cards for inferior ones, simply to make it a more "bear-themed" deck. This does open up an effective new strategy, however, which is to play Ruxa, Patient Professor and attack. Unblockable bears!

Guardian Gladewalker -> Grizzly Bears

Masked Vandal -> Forest Bear

Vivien's Grizzly -> Bear Cub

Webweaver Changeling -> Balduvian Bears

Changeling Titan -> Ruxa, Patient Professor
