Hey! This is a really cool build. Have you thought about doing an in depth Primer? If not, know where to find one for a similar deck? Thanks!

@itseggrolltime I'm afraid I haven't got the aptitude to put that much work into it ;) The deck's core comes from here, though. It's an excellent primer. http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/commander-edh/multiplayer-commander-decklists/477463-kozilek-butcher-with-juice

I like this a lot! But what's the purpose of Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth

QuietMyth says... #4

@Dark_Void Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth makes lands like Eye of Ugin, Maze of Ith, and Ancient Tomb tap for one mana instead of none or 2 with lots of pain.

How does the Mind Slaver + Trading Post wincon work? You sac stuff with trading post?

January 29, 2016 7:33 p.m.

QuietMyth says... #6

It's not so much a wincon really unless it's down to 1v1. You will often have a creature to sac and it's mindslaver lock when you do

Thank you @QuietMyth! Put together the deck with my cards and proxies and it is a lot of fun!

You should consider Memory Jar and Scroll Rack. These cards provides the fuel for Newzileks counterspell ability, and it is just a very good cards for card advantage.

@Matrixxx999 yeah, Scroll Rack is something im looking for, im just generally not willing to spend over 20$ on single, nonland cards. Memory Jar is less exciting, probably wont be able to find a slot for it considering the things im missing already.

Great deck and writeup-- I love the updates, they're entertaining to read. I'll be taking some notes for my own Kozilek EDH, though we run them a little differently. :)

Thanks abby315 I try to make it more fun to read. Mostly makes it more fun to write though haha

Duplicant is one of the best colorless cards I don't see in here. I think it is a grievous mistake to cut it.

Staff of Domination and Rings of Brighthearth would give you a way to create infinite mana with Basalt Monolith or Metalworker and instantly win the game by gaining infinite life and drawing your whole deck.

Sandstone Oracle is a great card. I would highly recommend you run it.

Memory Jar is absolutely nuts. 5 colorless mana to draw 7 cards is insane. Ignore the fact that your opponents get to temporarily see some more cards as they will only have the potential to play instants while you get to dump your whole hand as you wish. "Oh you have a Metalworker out but only 2 cards left in hand? Sure! I'll just Memory Jar and have enough mana to cast everything!" If you have a way to recur this card, like Myr Retriever, things get really gross.

outstare ah, thanks for bringing that up. Reminds me of how outdated this list is, i definitely have Duplicant back in by now. Ill do another update soon, and delete all the mumbo jumbo i put in, dont really need to keep a changelog when TO does it for me. Lol. Sandstone Oracle really doesnt have a slot here, both Kozileks are far more preferable to cast, and the upside that an opp might have 20 or so cards in hand isnt really worth it. Myr Retriever is pretty great, but I find it doesnt synergize as well as you would like. The 'get artifacts back' engine in this deck is Trading Post and tokens. Im working on Staff and Rings, they are just sooo hard to find without outright buying them.

Ashnod's Altar seems strange with basically only Myr Battlesphere working with it. Pretty much any other sac outlet or mana producer would work better here.

Nintendows Mimic Vat Myr Turbine Trading Post Krark-clan Ironworks is definitely the one we'd prefer to draw, but Ashnods still fits pretty well.

On that note, I realize now that this decklist is a bit out of date, just before I retired the deck it included Nim Deathmantle and Wurmcoil Engine to do the Ashnod's Altar / Krark-Clan Ironworks + Nim Deathmantle + Wurmcoil Engine / Myr Battlesphere infinite token/mana combo

Thanks for commenting :3

You should add Library of Leng and Nephalia Academy, Library worked pretty well for me. Also would synergize really well with Memory Jar

Nintendows says... #22

Alondith: Remember, Library of Leng doesn't work with the cost in Koz because it's a cost, not an effect.

You can’t use the Library of Leng ability to place a discarded card on top of your library when you discard a card as a cost, because costs aren’t effects.

Alondith says... #23

@Nintendows what about Geier Reach Sanitarium or Memory Jar ? Discard happens after the cost

November 8, 2016 12:26 p.m.

QuietMyth says... #24

Alondith I think he thought you were trying to get the cards discarded to Kozilek's counterspell ability to go back on top of the deck. You don't typically end up discarding cards in any other way. Unfortunately all of the artifact and land utility slots are taken up by better things as far as Library and Academy are concerned. Memory Jar is definitely something I was looking at, because it just gives you a brand new hand in response to a spell you might not have the CMC for. But the deck got retired before I got my hands on that, or a Scroll Rack

Why don't you use Doubling Cube?
