Korvold's Disposable Brawlers

Brawl BRG (Jund) Sacrifice

ChrisHansonBiomancin

Life aint fae for minions of Korvold, Fae-Cursed King . But as a big, evasive Jund dragon that offers massive card advantage, he's too badass to pass up as a Brawl commander. This deck looks to create mass creatures to muck up the ground against creature decks or create a resilient attack against controllier decks, while Korvold and other big flyers go over the top. There's a bit of a steal-and-sac theme to clear the way for our flying fatties and remove pesky threats. Here's the rundown of the cards filling each role:

SAC FODDER

Cauldron Familiar , Discordant Piper , Forbidden Friendship , Deathbloom Thallid , Scute Swarm , and Grakmaw, Skyclave Ravager all offer ways to get multiple bodies to sac in one cheap card. Careless Celebrant and Solemn Simulacrum also offer useful triggers upon death. Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger isn't exactly fodder but provides a cheap trigger for Korvold nonetheless and is pretty easy to escape given the sac'ing.

FODDER PRODUCERS

Gilded Goose and Savvy Hunter create Food for ramp, sac fodder, card advantage, life gain, or Cauldron Familiar shenanigans. Jolrael, Mwonvuli Recluse teams well with Korvold's draw power to create a steady stream of cat tokens, while Liliana's Devotee feeds off the sac side of things and Piper of the Swarm relies on no one to make rats. Nightmare Shepherd and Anax, Hardened in the Forge are value machines as they provide an extra body per nontoken creature. Garruk, Cursed Huntsman is easy to ultimate the turn after he comes out as he provides wolves for fodder. Rise of the Dread Marn can replenish the board after a deadly turn.

SAC OUTLETS

While Korvold offers a reliable sac outlet from the commander zone, he's really at his best when he's just benefitting from other sacs. Witch's Oven contributes to the Food cause while giving a free way to salvage a permanent or two in the face of removal/chump blocks. Mutual Destruction , Fling , and Demon's Disciple offer cheap, one-time sacs for removal or face damage. Eradicator Valkyrie and Fiend Artisan offer repeatable and valuable sac effects while being big threats in their own right. Woe Strider and Immersturm Predator are free sac outlets, allowing for explosive finishing plays by sac'ing en masse to turbocharge Korvold.

A LITTLE STEAL-AND-SAC

Claim the Firstborn , Shackles of Treachery , Song-Mad Treachery  , and The Akroan War allow for devastating plays by swinging the board and taking away their best threat before sending it to the graveyard.

OTHER UTILITY

Arcane Signet , Replicating Ring , and Skyclave Relic provide a little ramp and fixing. Bastion of Remembrance probably isn't going to win the game by itself as a one-of but can make a big difference in life totals on both sides. Treacherous Blessing is just unfair with a guaranteed sac on turn 5. The Cauldron of Eternity adds some extra resilience and allows us to retrieve a key creature, given that there won't be any more copies in a Brawl deck.
