Karametra, God of Harvests

Karametra, God of Harvests will always hold a special place in my heart. It was my first deck that I constructed 100% from scratch, and is pretty reliable. I had been looking around enchantress decks when I stumbled upon her, but I felt like enchantress didn't take advantage of her ability well enough. Instead, this deck focuses on playing creatures at all points in the game to ramp into the late game and curb stomp anyone who dares stand against the unbridled power of nature.

The general gameplan is to ramp into Karametra turn 3 or 4, then start dropping creatures to build up our lands. Then just play as many creatures as you can to get as much mana as you can, and either use a mana sink or normal combat to win.

You may like this deck if:

  • You like having an unassuming commander that has built in protection
  • You like playing lots of creatures
  • You enjoy barfing your hand every turn
  • You like varied wincons (like green burn, overrun, etc)
  • You like spending 20+ mana per turn late game

You may not like this deck if:

  • You want a flashy/low cmc commander
  • You don't like combat based strategies
  • You like playing things on other people's turns
  • You like faster decks
  • You don't like spending 20+ mana per turn late game :(

So there you have it! This deck is fun to play if you don't mind the build up, but once it hits it hits hard. If you enjoyed this primer please consider upvoting: +1 Upvote

My only warning is the sheer number of times you have to tutor for lands can slow the game down. Have fun!

Welp, here I am revisiting this long-retired deck. It was simple and effective, but overall a bit too straightforward. While my changes haven't exactly raised the complexity of the deck at all, they DEFINITELY gave it a unique feel.

I am, of course, talking about the fact that this deck now is only legal under Rule 0 with Kaheera, the Orphanguard as the companion.

Besides Karametra herself, the rest of the deck follows Kaheera's deck-building restraint. Unless you are playing with some real rule sticklers, you shouldn't have a problem playing this. If it does become a problem, you can simply switch out the creature of your choice for Kaheera in the 99, as companion restraints don't matter if they aren't the deck's actual companion. The old list shall remain in the maybeboard for those interested.

To be honest, even though the old "primer" fits the new list, for obvious reasons I felt the need to address the 101st card.
