First of all, get more higher CmC cards, you will easily be able to cast them with this deck (though you may want more mana ramp). if you can get your hands on a Mana Reflection (about 8 bucks), Gauntlet of Power (same), and Caged Sun (the cheapest at 2 bucks-ish), and most importantly, Doubling Cube (3-sh bucks) then you will be able to cast more and bigger things, and get Omnath bigger much quicker.

Yeah, thanks. Caged Sun and Doubling Cube were both on my acquire list already, however Gauntlet of Power and Mana Reflection are a bit out of my price range for the moment. I'll certainly look for some more high-cost cards for the deck.I'll be adding a Craterhoof Behemoth and a few other things.Cheers!

lol r+d's secret lair?

Looks like you're missing a couple necessary green things: Sakura-Tribe Elder , Yavimaya Elder , Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger , Oracle of Mul Daya . Maybe even Cultivate , card:Kodama's Reach, and Farseek I'd say running all of this could be overkill, but this is also a deck where the focus is ramp. So the more the better. and I believe Vorinclex is the most expensive ~$3.

Oh also Lightning Greaves works well to protect Omnath

Am I missing something or is Altar of the Lost completely useless in this deck? Instead of listing all the cards that I would recommend, I'll just link to my Omnath, Locus of Mana EDH deck.

hunter9000, I would guess Altar of the Lost is just to add 2 mana and float it every turn. Unspendable mana in an Omnath deck isn't necessarily a bad thing.

hunter9000 says... #7

That's a good point, but if that's all it's for, Somberwald Sage is way better.

Pyromancergoesboom, R&D's Secret Lair actually has a function in that it forces players to follow the rules text of old cards to the letter. A lot of people I play magic with use old cards, as do I, so it's in there on the off chance that it has a valid effect on the game. With all the ramp I have, that one colorless mana has had little effect on the games I have had with this deck so far.

VonTenko, thanks for all the great suggestions! I'll definitely be adding all of those cards to my acquire list for this deck. Except for Farseek , am I missing something or would it be completely usesless in a mono-green deck? Also, Lightning Greaves is something I know is mandatory in EDH, and I've been trying to find one for ages, but of course, no-one is willing to trade one.

hunter9000, weaseldude; Yep, Altar of the Lost is in here simply for the extra green mana. 3 mana for an extra 2 mana towards pumping Omnath every turn seems like a good deal to me.As for Somberwald Sage , yes it's better. It's also a rare, and quite a popular one at that. I'll stick to an uncommon I have plenty of for now, there's stuff on my acquire list that take priority over Somberwald Sage .

You're right about Farseek , that was a test, and you passed. Not really, I just have a mentally pre-programmed list of must haves for green EDH decks and have yet to build a mono-green one, so Farseek is useful... in multi-color decks... lol.

Also like 99% sure you can't run R&D's Secret Lair. While it's not explicitly on the banned list, it's pretty accepted that "Un-" cards aren't okay to run (unless deemed otherwise by your specific play group - but other players might not be okay with it). Think of it this way: Let's say you sit down at an EDH tournament, play the Lair, you would be DQ'd right away. EDH uses all Vintage legal cards, plus it's own banned list. Un- sets are only legal in Un- set specific tournaments.

One more suggestion, while I know it's out of you're price range, something to look for would be a Seedborn Muse . It makes Omnath ramp stupid good.

Seedborn Muse Is pretty excellent. I was thinking of using Unwinding Clock until I get one , but obviously it'd be a lot less useful.

And regarding R&D's Secret Lair I make sure to check before every game in case no-one wants me to run it. I just swap it out for another forest if anyone's against it. And I don't plan to play in any tournaments any time soon, but if I was I know I'd have to remove it.

On another note, I've added a lot of useful cards to the deck:

Caged Sun

Craterhoof Behemoth

Fog (3rd Edition/Revised version. You might be able to see how that combos with R&D's Secret Lair.)

Garruk, Primal Hunter

Kamahl, Fist of Krosa

Overrun

Primal Surge

Ring of Kalonia

Rude Awakening

Scute Mob

Triumph of the Hordes

card:Yeva, Nature's Herald

I would highly suggest running Genesis Wave over Primal Surge . Reason being Primal Surge can backfire really easily unless it's the ONLY instant/sorcery in the deck. Genesis Wave on the other hand is rather self explanatory.

Garruk Wildspeaker lets you untap lands. Which would be really useful. as well as his final ability is Overrun .

You're right about Genesis Wave over Primal Surge . I'd have them both in or just Genesis Wave if I could, but I only have Primal Surge for now.

And I honestly think Kamahl, Fist of Krosa is a better card than Garruk Wildspeaker , considering with him I can overrun at will and every turn if I wish. And the extra 2 mana every turn is OK, but for now I'm fine with just the one Garruk.

even more ideas then: Heartbeat of Spring . While I know it helps everyone a lot, if you build your deck so it helps you more than everyone else, it could do some pretty awesome stuff. and it's only a dollar or two.

Bear Umbra it does stupid things. and protects whatever creature you enchant a bit.

I was here searching for cards for my omnath edh and i saw kamahl. Wow is all i can say. Overrun on a stick and better yet the first ability. With all the mana omnath allows if anyone tries to board wipe u can just turn all of their lands into dorks then laugh.

Use Constant Mists rather than Fog .

VonTenko:Heartbeat of Spring and Bear Umbra are both awesome, I know a guy who has both, I should be able to trade with him at some point.

Shane:You want Kamahl, Fist of Krosa in your EDH. You really do.

atencj:I'd probably use Constant Mists as well as Fog , if you read back a bit I mentioned how the Revised Edition version coboes with R&D's Secret Lair.

Also Genesis Wave is great in this kind of deck.

+1 because the name is amazing!

Hahaha, thanks! I updated it from "Omath's Terribleness Rampage of (Temporary) Fail" as the deck is a bit better when it was built. Just a bit of a running joke I suppose. Might change the name again if the deck starts doing really well.

Overwhelming Stampede is 17x better than Overrun in every shape and form. Planar Portal would be nice for search options. Beast Within , Oblivion Stone for removal. Extraplanar Lens is great ramp. Skyshroud Claim is better than Explosive Vegetation . Spearbreaker Behemoth is great for protecting a big Omnath

Great suggestions there, thanks! Aside from Overwhelming Stampede , Extraplanar Lens and Beast Within those are all new to me. I'll definitely be trying to find some of those in the future.

Defense of the Heart will prevent opponents from overextending, and can fetch your utility creatures when the time arises. Krosan Grip is a cheap, uncounterable removal. You should drop Realms Uncharted , you don't have enough non basics anyway. Forgotten Ancient is cheap and very useful, especially used in combination with Spike Weaver . In a higher price range, I'd recommend Yavimaya Hollow . Also, Prized Unicorn should be dropped for Taunting Elf , or you could have both. Lure is also a very useful enchantment.
