I would recommend replace Batterskull with Hero's Blade. I find it hard to protect both Batterskull and Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas at the same time. Mana always running low and ended up losing one of them.

I just run Batterskull because it's nice to be able to tutor up another creature, and then if it dies I can just equip it to something else like Archangel of Tithes. Idk about Hero's Blade I'd rather run another equipment that protects Kalemne like Mask of Avacyn or something. I appreciate the advice though!

I'm guessing this deck is off of cards you own, but I would recommend Sword of Fire and Ice because both effects (2 damage and drawing a card) are never useless. Also, Celestial Mantle is pretty hilarious! Rogue's Gloves and Mask of Memory are good card draw. For experience counter synergy, you may want to look at Volt Charge and Contagion Engine. Triggering Kalemne is tough because you don't have access to green, but you can lessen the cost of the card without changing the converted mana cost. So, Conduit of Ruin can help with that (it can tutor up Sandstone Oracle and triggers Kalemne!)

@a7141988,

Yes, the only reason I'm not using Fire & Ice is because I don't own one yet. It might be the best sword in the cycle with its card draw and shock effects. As for Celestial Mantle, one of my friend's commanders is Bruna, Light of Alabaster, so I try to avoid using auras as much as possible so I don't get my face beaten in. Otherwise, yeah that card is hilarious! I don't really worry about triggering Kalemne very much, but you're right I should try out Conduit sometime! Casting Godo, Bandit Warlord for 4 mana will leave me 2 mana leftover to equip a sword or something else! I only wish it could grab Endbringer though :/ Thank you for the help!

I might suggest Urabrask the Hidden and Blightsteel Colossus. Love the deck though. If you want anymore suggestions just hit me up XD.

@Komamura

Thank you!

Urabrask is pretty good, but I don't think I'll use him because I don't run enough creatures that care about attacking other than Kalemne. It is nice that it makes everyone else's creatures come in tapped, but it's not really a serious threat against most decks. I'll have to think about it more

As for Blightsteel Colossus, I don't ramp enough to reliably cast him every game, and I don't really want to kill by infect damage

With 25 creatures I would say that it is more than worth it. Even if your general is the main focus, it still gives it haste and slows down the enemy's defenses.

Giant Harbinger is easily worse than it. 5 mana to put Sun Titan or Stonehewer Giant on top your library (assuming they arent already in play or dead) is not very cost effective. Crib Swap makes it an interesting interaction but still lack luster.

But its your deck, and you should obviously play how you think is the most fun. I understand not using Blightsteel Colossus due to it being a mean card. (In my playgroup the environment is very nasty and we love seeing the happiness drain out of people's faces.)

I was just about to take out Giant Harbinger for Archangel Avacyn  Flip as soon as I get one. All the things in my maybe board are things I'm swapping in except for Haunted Plate Mail

The main reason I run Giant Harbinger is because my playgroup plays with the old tuck rule, so in case Kalemne gets tucked, I can have a better chance of tutoring her back

I run Anger in my Kalemne deck, really does wonders.

@Rolighed

You are correct, Anger is ordinarily really good!

However, one of my friends runs Anafenza, the Foremost as her commander, so I try to rely on graveyard shenanigans as little as possible

Yo, snatch up a Quicksilver Amulet for this deck.

@gpenny95

Quicksilver Amulet is a great card, but not for this deck. I only run 21 creatures at the moment, and only like 5 of them have really high mana costs. Not to mention I wouldn't get the casting trigger for Kalemne

Leonin Shikari might have a home here

Ocelot44 says... #17

@Deckologist

I've thought about running Leonin Shikari in the past, and didn't really think much of it. Now, having experienced the glory that is Sigarda's Aid, I might have to give it a second chance. Being able to swing with Sun Titan and then equip something at instant speed is extremely powerful! Not to mention the hilarious interaction with Lightning Greaves. Thank you for the advice!

Deckologist says... #18

The ability to equip at instant speed is one of those "you don't understand it until you play it" scenarios lol. My favorite is equipping an unblocked creature before damage is dealt. I may be the devil lol

I run a Kalmne desk as well Kalmne - Aggro Control - Have you thought about adding Sunforger and some other corresponding instants? Boros Charm comes to mind, for one.

Ocelot44 says... #20

I've run Sunforger in the past, and found that it can be a little bit overcosted, even if it has a huge effect. It can be really good if you build around it, I just don't really like using it because it's three to equip and RW and unattach to activate. I usually have better things to spend mana on

+1 Like the deck, and think Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas is an awesome choice for voltron commander!

Check out my voltron Aurelia deck, if you have any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it Aurelia, the "Not-As-Consistent-As-Sir-Lancelot"

September 8, 2016 4:22 p.m.

Ocelot44 says... #22

Thank you Love-in-Theory! I like Kalemne the most as a Boros Voltron commander because she's cheap to get out at only 4 mana, and double strike and vigilance are great to have naturally. The other Boros Voltron commanders don't really do it for me. :/ Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer is underwhelming, and Gisela, Blade of Goldnight costs WAY too much to have as a voltron commander. Aurelia, the Warleader would be my second pick as a commander, but she's still six mana and I like her more as a part of the 99, so then Kalemne benefits even more from her

Good deck!! My only suggestion would be Mox Opal to try to get another way to turn one Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas.

September 16, 2016 1:46 p.m.

Ocelot44 says... #24

@av.cole94

I will add Mox Opal once I have enough money to buy it. Turn 1 Kalemne without hexproof isn't really worth it because usually it'll just get removed anyway and I'll have to cast her again

Is Loxodon Warhammer worth the cost? Does Lifelink has any synergism in this deck? Perhaps O-Naginata might a 50% discount?
