Kalamax isn't aiming to be the fastest deck at the table. Being such a nice grind engine, this midrange control list seeks to utilize Kalamax's trigger to make sure we are able to keep opponent's win attempts at bay, while also generating tons of card advantage for us. Being able to double one Counterspell every turn and, if not needing to counter anything, being able to double up on effects like Impulse and Dig Through Time makes him a perfect fit for the midrange plan. We are a lot better with Kalamax on the board, but this deck can also play without him if needed, as most of our combo lines are totally independant of Kalamax, or can substitute him in some way. We can also still grind the game to a point where we have the advantage as we have other grind engines that synergize with the plan, like Rashmi, Eternities Crafter and Wavebreak Hippocamp.
With Kalamax and Fork, Twincast or Expansion / Explosion, we can use the Copy from Kalamax to copy the original Copy spell, looping for an infinite/infinite Kalamax, and ending the loop with 2 copies of whatever the original Copy Spell was targetting.
Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal and at least 3 mana from dorks and/or rocks makes you infinite mana.
Temur Sabertooth + Dockside Extortionist and at least 5 artifacts and/or enchantments from your opponents makes you infinite mana.
Twinning Staff + Copy Spell and 7 mana to activate staff

Twinning Staff + 2 Copy Spells

Both of the above net you infinite copies of any spell on the stack, as each new Copy Spell can copy the original Copy Spell, netting you 2 new Copy Spells, eventually ending with infinite Copy Spells on the stack, which you can then use to copy anything already on the stack, like an Impulse or an opponent's Demonic Tutor.

Twinning Staff + Kalamax, the Stormsire + Copy Spell can make you copy anything already on the stack infinite times. If an opponent plays something or you play a sorcery, just have Kalamax tapped and play any of the Copy Spells, say Fork. Kalamax gets you a second copy and staff a third. After that, use one of the copies to copy Fork, getting you 2 more Forks on the stack, you can use this to have an infinite number of Forks and then start copying the original spell played before your Fork.

Twinning Staff + Dramatic Reversal gives you infinite mana and infinite copies of anything on the stack and any instant you can play. This loop requires at least 4 mana from dorks and/or rocks and you need to be able to activate twinning staff or use a copy spell on Reversal. With the second copy from Staff's trigger, you are getting 4 mana per copy of reversal, and getting 2 copies of reversal with 7 mana, this nets you infinite mana. Then you can do the following loop to infinitely copy any spell on the stack and/or any instant you can play, starting with only the original Reversal on the stack 1. Play any instant you want, say Impulse. 2. Activate Twinning Staff copying Dramatic Reversal twice. 3. Let the first copy of Reversal resolve, untapping Staff. 4. Activate Staff copying Impulse twice 5. Let both copies of Impulse resolve 6. Let the second copy of Reversal Resolve, untapping Staff 7. Go to step 2

We've seen a few ways of obtaining infinite mana with Kalamax, but without an outlet in the cmdzone, what do we do with that? First, infinite mana makes our playstyle a lot easier, as we are already in a control/midrange plan, so not being restrained by mana makes it a lot better, as we can chain draw spells to find our combo pieces and have plenty of interaction up. Our dedicated Outlets are Expansion / Explosion and Thassa's Intervention. Intervention can find Explosion and/or Twinning Staff and start a loop of infinite copies. Explosion can kill a player and draw our deck, at which point we have plenty of ways to end the game. 1. We can use Reap and Noxious Revival to loop any spell we want if an opponent has at least 2 black permanents. Otherwise, we can use Noxious Revival and any draw spell to redraw and replay Explosion killing both of the remaining opponents. 2. We can use IsoRev and Copy Artifact getting a second IsoRev for a board of 2/2s in Swan Song, as you can use your Swan Song with Twinning Loops to create an army and pass the turn holding infinite counterspells 3. We can Cyclonic Rift and hold a hand of counterspells and kill players with an infinite/infinite Kalamax 4. We can use Twinning Staff loops with Swan Song to for a board of 2/2s, passing the turn with a hand of counterspells. 5. Finale of Devastation for X=Infinite + Cyclonic Rift

2 Outlets might seem too few, but we have to consider that we can chain draw into whatever we need, and we have plenty of cards that help with that, between our Twinning lines and all our draw and dig spells, we actually have 25 outlets or ways to dig an outlet.

5 in total

These can grab Spellseeker, which finds Thassa's Intervention. As mana isn't a problem at this point, the indirect tutors are actually pretty direct.

Chord of Calling, Worldly Tutor, Eldritch Evolution, Neoform and Finale of Devastation

6 in total

These can reuse our Tutors, Draws and Digs, or copy them.

Reap and Noxious Revival

These can find Twinning Staff that lets us either start a Twinning Loop or copy another spell like Dig Through Time for extra digging.

Whir of Invention and Transmute Artifact

These are direct copies of our Draws and Digs

Fork and Twincast

With Kalamax and Narset's Reversal, after an opponent play a spell, say Demonic Tutor, you can do the following loop, which effectively makes you use 0 cards to get Narset's Reversal effect. 1. Play Narset's Reversal targetting the tutor, triggering Kalamax 2. With the Copy, target the original Reversal, and let the copy resolve 3. Original Narset's Reversal gets bounced to hand and copied, new copy targets the Tutor, let this new copy resolve 4. New copy bounces and copies the tutor.
With Kalamax, Chord of Calling for X=4 can get both of Dockside Extortionist and Temur Sabertooth, making it a 1 Card Combo for infinite mana
This section will be improved with constant testing of the list.

Reap is a powerful card that is most often online, but it's still a meta dependant card. If you don't constantly have decks using black in your pod, consider switching to Memory's Journey

Neoform is a strong card, and being able to find Spellseeker and Dockside Extortionist is great, but the creature count isn't that high, but more testing will prove if this slot is worthy or not.

Force of Negation is an interesting one. Is there a point where too many free counters isn't the best choice? More testing will tell

Fork has priority over Reverberate, but the upside is small/niche. The upside is that, as fork makes the copied spell red, Pyroblast and Red Elemental Blast can't be used to counter our copy, only the original spell
