Maybeboard

Bosh, Iron Golem may not be pitching a perfect game, but with the size of the artifacts he will be flinging it won't matter if he is a bit inaccurate. Someone is still getting smacked in the face. (In all seriousness though, this is just a flimsy excuses to use this title/description to reference one of my favorite sports movies...)

This deck wants to continuously recycle artifacts and fling them at opponents. I have tried to keep the infinite combos to a minimum as I don't particular like them. However, due to the high synergy of artifacts, a few managed their way into the deck:

Krark-Clan Ironworks + Wurmcoil Engine/Myr Battlesphere + Nim Deathmantle = infinite mana and infinite creature tokens

Krark-Clan Ironworks + Foundry Inspector + Sculpting Steel + Spine of Ish Sah = Destroy all of the permanents opponents control

Krark-Clan Ironworks + Ugin, the Ineffable + Sculpting Steel + Spine of Ish Sah = Destroy the board while producing infinite mana

Thankfully these combos all rely on one card (Krark-Clan Ironworks) which can be easily dealt with. As a result I don't feel like things are too oppressive. Paradox Engine and Nim Deathmantle are still insanely powerful on their own.

I'll write up a more complete deck description in the near future. Thanks for taking a look and feel free to leave comments/suggestions or +1.

Story time:

So this past weekend was Magic's Commander Weekend and one of my LGS was putting on its first Commander event. My friend who had never played Commander before decided to try it out. For most of the day he borrowed my squirrel tribal list, but for the last game of the day we decided to play Planechase and he asked me to pick a random deck of mine for him to play. I gave him this Bosh list because I thought it was something very different from my squirrel deck. At the table I was piloting my Lord Windgrace deck while our other opponents were playing Rhonas the Indomitable and Anje Falkenrath.

As the game progressed each deck was doing what it was supposed to do and the Bosh deck was starting to put its pieces together...until we planeswalked to a plane which caused everyone to sacrifice a non-land permanent if chaos was rolled....it was rolled 6 times. We then planeswalked away from the plane and everyone rebuilt extremely quickly, except the Bosh player who had flooded hard since losing everything. My friend was about to concede the game after my Lord Windgrace and the Rhonas's players decks exploded into imposing board presences, but I convinced him to continue to play as I knew there were a few ways that Bosh could still recover. The next turn he drew Gamble and cast it. Since this was pretty casual, I give him a nudge by saying there was a 5 mana sorcery in the deck that would fix everything. It was Scrap Mastery and he found it. He cast it and was immediately back in the game. Over the next two turns he was able to pull together a victory through Krark-Clan Ironworks + Myr Battlesphere + Nim Deathmantle + Bosh, Iron Golem even with me and the Rhonas player going after his artifacts hard (I even cast a Bane of Progress at one point).

As the owner of the deck it was beautiful to see it work so well and see the joy on his face while working through the various synergies and combos contained in the deck was quite a rewarding experience. Afterwards he told me that he might try out the Commander format now that he has had a taste of it.

Also, I was the big winner of the day. The event itself was casual but the store still gave out randomized cards from promo prize packs to everyone who participated. I pulled a foil Japanese alter Ugin, the Ineffable! I don't normally care too much about promo alternate arts, but this Ugin was just so cool. It now resides peacefully within this vary Bosh deck.
